Assistant Athletic Director- Facility Operations & Events
Job description
This position supports the Associate Athletic Director of Facilities & Capital Projects with overall oversight in all areas of event operations and athletic facilities management. This position has supervisory responsibilities in key areas including game management of assigned sports, external rental and special events management, and select facilities. Responsible for setting employee goals, assessing employee performance and providing feedback, and making pay recommendations.
This position will interact on a regular basis with: Coaches, staff, and external partners
This position typically will advise and counsel: Staff and external partners
This position will supervise: Assigned staff
Responsibilities
Job Duty 1 -
Support oversight for all event management operations
Job Duty 2 -
Serve as primary or secondary event manager for all assigned sports and provide assistance for other team members as needed
Job Duty 3 -
Serve as facility manager for all assigned GT Athletics facilities
Job Duty 4 -
Support oversight of facilities budget and event operations budget, as well as standard business office procedures including but not limited to submitting purchase requisitions, coordinating event staff payments, reconciling purchasing card statements, etc.
Job Duty 5 -
Manage all NCAA and ACC championships hosted by GT Athletics
Job Duty 6 -
Oversee special events and rentals, including working events as assigned
Job Duty 7 -
Perform other duties as assigned
Required Qualifications
Educational Requirements
Bachelor's Degree or an equivalent combination of education and experience
Required Experience
Three to five years job related experience
Other Required Qualifications
- Previous experience leading an athletics facilities staff and managers
- Occasional travel between training locations required; sitting for extended periods of time; dexterity of hands and fingers to operate a computer keyboard, mouse, power tools, and to handle other computer components.

- Demonstrated record of success serving as primary event manager over Division I football and/or men’s basketball game day
- Demonstrated record of success as a supervisor with more than one direct reports

This job requires previous work experience in a university environment, advanced knowledge of office related computer applications; excellent interpersonal skills; excellent skills in organization, management, conflict resolution, problem-solving, verbal and written communication, facilitating change, and customer service.
