Description & Requirements
Position Summary
The Assistant Controller is responsible for the integrity of financial statements including revenue recognition and reporting, timely and accurate submission of the monthly results, Income Statement and Balance Sheet Variance Commentaries to the US Controller / Network and ensuring compliance with US GAAP, SEC requirements and IPG Standard Policies and Procedures.

The Assistant Controller will work closely with senior agency management to ensure that the day-to-day financial needs of the agency are being met and that systems and processes are in place to continue to improve reporting. The role will have a dual reporting structure direct with the CFO and Regional Controller. The Assistant Controller, as leader of a finance/accounting team, will supervise and provide direction for their direct reports and staff, along with some oversight of a wider on-site Finance team.
Key Responsibilities
  • Oversee the overall revenue reporting process including appropriate persuasive evidence, review of revenue calculations, determination of revenue recognition methodology, and all associated reporting inclusive of required revenue variance analysis
  • Ensure the integrity of the monthly, quarterly, and annual reporting to the Network and ensuring compliance with US GAAP in particular with regard to revenue recognition, SEC requirements and Interpublic Standard Policies and Procedures
  • Maintain accuracy of all local general ledger / sub-ledger accounts and reconciliations including liaising with shared-services
  • Business Controls compliance and formal documentation (including flowcharts); ensure compliance is understood and executed throughout the agency
  • Lead contact and reviewer for PwC external auditors re: quarterly / year end reporting and Business Controls compliance
  • Develop and roll out new policies and procedures including best practices
  • Key stakeholder in the team to implement new systems and/or processes for finance / accounting
  • Oversight of reconciliation amongst media systems
  • Set T&E budgets with the FP&A team and approve business and travel expenses
  • Ad hoc projects
Desired Skills & Experience
  • Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, or other Business-related field
  • CPA preferred
  • 8+ years' experience including Advertising or Media industry experience
  • Management experience with professional staff
  • SAP / Hyperion / Smartview knowledge preferred but not required
  • Strong Microsoft Office skills (Excel, PowerPoint, and Word)

The salary range for this position is $130,000 to $140,000. Where an employee or prospective employee is paid within this range will depend on, among other factors, actual ranges for current/former employees in the subject position, market considerations, budgetary considerations, tenure and standing with the Company (applicable to current employees), as well as the employee’s/applicant’s skill set, level of experience, and qualifications.
