Energy Officers / Sustainable Energy Engineers sought to join the Energy Unit within a State Organisation. Positions Available in various Regions, Nationwide to include: Sligo, Limerick, Kilkenny, Cork & Dublin

Excellent opportunity to join experienced professionals in Energy Management, Climate Action and Sustainability, who are tasked with developing a Decarbonisation Strategy along with implementing and monitoring energy reduction and climate action programmes for a large portfolio of medical facilities and hospitals.

You will have preferably a level 7 qualification in; mechanical, electrical or energy management,

Some project experience would be desirable. These roles are not overly technical more management of small projects or project support.

You will be focused on setting up energy teams for the behavioural change side of these projects so skills in communication and teamwork are essential

Responsibilities:

• Ensure the development and implementation of sustainability strategies within your portfolio for your region
• Ensure compliance with legislation and national energy, waste and water efficiency targets and obligations
• Assist in the Development of management systems and measures to support a sustainable environment
• Ensuring the development of sustainable facilities and buildings in both design and operation. Promote sustainability in the procurement process.
• Develop and build staff, public awareness of sustainability issues.
• Integrate sustainability priorities into organisation policies, planning, budgeting and reporting processes. Develop the organisation as a corporate social citizen and public sector leader in sustainable development.
• You will fulfil an exemplary role with regard to energy efficiency

To be considered for the role you must:

• Hold a Level 7 qualification in Energy, Engineering (or similar professional)
• Be a Member of Engineers Ireland (or equivalent)
• Have at least 3 years relevant experience
• Be proficient in the English language (spoken, written, technical).
• Have strong communications, negotiation and influencing skills.
• Be confident and comfortable dealing with diverse stakeholders.
• Demonstrate flexibility, empathy and understanding other parties views.
• Be capable of multi-tasking, co-ordinating and delivering multi-projects.
• Have own reliable transport + Driving Licence + Insurance.
• Be available to commence immediately.

Ideally you will:

• Hold a qualification in Energy management.
• Have experience in ‘renewable energy’
• Have energy auditing experience.
• Have ‘design office’ experience.
• Have facilities management experience.

Project Goals;

Meet the National Energy Efficiency Action Plan (NEEAP) and the National Renewable Energy Action Plan (NREAP) targets and obligations.

Meet the National Public Sector target of 33% energy efficiency savings target..

Introduce sustainability audits, action plans and monitoring of healthcare facilities, services and departments.

Monitor, measure and report on the annual energy use to improve understanding of consumption and promote efficiency.

Promote awareness of applicable energy efficiency legislation and continually improve environmental stewardship.

Develop National Energy Supply Contracts.

Assist to minimise water consumption in healthcare facilities.

Develop best practise case studies of Irish healthcare facilities.

Monitor, measure and report on water use to improve understanding of consumption and promote efficiency in healthcare facilities.

Salary will depend on experience and skills of the candidate. Candidates with 3 years’ relevant experience can expect salary of 35-45k and the candidates with 5 years’ relevant experience 50k plus.
