Assistant Plant Controller

As the Assistant Plant Controller, you will be providing financial and control expertise to the Motion, NEMA Motors in Fort Smith, Arkansas benchmarking KPIs (Key Performance Indicators) while working with other finance professionals to understand the drivers of financial performance, identifying trends relevant to the business. In this role, you will act as a business partner to the plant manager to develop a business model and optimize financial performance. Supporting business decisions by monitoring, analyzing, and interpreting financial data including forecasts and budgets in order to evaluate various business alternatives and recommend the most appropriate business solutions.

Your responsibilities
- Develop annual operating plan and associated burden studies.
- Engage with plant management to create robust financial forecasts. Focus on ability to easily create scenarios with high accuracy with emphasis on a 5Q rolling forecast timeline.
- Provide capital investment analysis along with savings and asset management accountability.
- Report results on product cost improvement projects for direct, indirect and OPEX (Operational Excellence) savings.
- Research and set standard costs for parts and products.
- Provide internal audit support for raw and MRO (Maintenance, Repair and Operating Supplies) cycle counting procedures along with excess and obsolete inventory management.
- Drive continuous improvement by engaging in variance analysis and provide recommendations to reduce cost and improve operating income
- Perform daily, weekly and monthly financial reporting/period closings along with general business tasks.
Your background
- Bachelor’s Degree with minimum 0-2 years experience.
- Strong analytical & problem-solving skills.
- Excellent interpersonal and communications skills to interact with all levels within the organization.
- A self-starter with strong leadership ability.
- Proficient in MS Office programs with strong emphasis in Excel and SAP - preferred.
- Previous accounting experience in a manufacturing environment - preferred.
- Candidates must already have a work authorization that would permit them to work for ABB in the US
