Position Summary

Round Lake Vineyards & Winery is a family-owned, full-production winery with 21-acres of estate vineyards. We are seeking a passionate individual who has a positive attitude and strong work ethic to help grow grapes and make wine! The full-time position will work closely with the Winemaker and other management staff, following the process from vine to bottle to ensure the highest quality wines.

The position of Assistant Winemaker will play a critical role in the day-to-day operations of the Winery. The Assistant Winemaker is responsible for general winemaking tasks, vineyard assignments, production and bottling support, and everything in between.

Responsibilities

· Assist in executing all day-to-day cellar operations: harvest, fermentation, barrel topping and racking, bottling preparation, sanitation, cellar organization and cleanliness.

· Assist in maintaining the vineyard from spring pruning, pesticide and fertilizer application(s), canopy management, weeding, drainage, plant and grape testing, harvest, and winterizing.

· Contribute to the continuous improvement of the winemaking process and procedures.

· Assist in regular barrel topping and maintenance.

· Maintain communication with management staff.

• Conduct regular enology tasks.
• Assist Winemaker in planning day to day production activities as well as help to create daily, weekly, and monthly lists based on winemaking, production, and maintenance needs.
• Help with general equipment and building upkeep, cleaning, organizing, maintenance, repair, as well as any preventative maintenance necessary and recording and reporting as needed.
• Assist with pulling cases of wine for wholesale orders and preparing them for shipping.
• Perform other duties as needed under direction from the Winemaker and/or management.

• Ability and willingness to work a flexible schedule that can be up to 7 days a week during harvest.

Minimum Qualifications

· College education in business, agriculture or production management.

· 1-3-years’ experience in production winemaking preferred but will train as necessary.

• Must have strong organizational skills.
• Ability to travel and occasionally, work weekends and extended hours during peak production periods.
• Minimum age requirement of 21.
• Valid driver’s license.

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $32,000.00 - $40,000.00 per year
