The mission of the Tunnel to Towers Foundation is to honor the sacrifice of firefighter Stephen Siller who laid down his life to save others on September 11, 2001. We also honor our military and first responders who continue to make the supreme sacrifice of life and limb for our country.

The Foundation is seeking an experienced Associate Vice President of Construction to lead and manage each phase of residential construction and renovations. This position is based in Staten Island, NY and will require travel.

Duties and responsibilities

  • Lead new residential construction projects as well as extensive residential renovation projects across all phases from planning/scoping, to design development, to construction management, up until the presentation of each new property.
  • Collaborate with Vice President of Construction to ensure project plans are executed accordingly.
  • Works as part of a team throughout all phases of construction
  • Oversees bidding process and contract negotiations. Ensures company's contract policies are followed.
  • Oversee project management of onsite subcontractors, and wherever else necessary.
  • Provide all plans and project documentation for Project supervisors and outside contractors.
  • Responsible for reporting to Senior Management on and off site.
  • Establish and manage relationships with: General contractors, zoning consultants, city inspectors, and contracted project managers and any other individuals on site,
  • Responsible for ensuring construction projects are completed within the scheduled time frame.
  • Responsible for keeping projects within budget.
  • Evaluate and manage risk throughout the entire life cycle of construction, identifying key risk factors and developing appropriate response strategies.

Qualifications

  • Minimum 7-10 years of construction experience, with emphasis on residential construction including three years in upper management.
  • Strong leadership and management skills.
  • Excellent communication skills.
  • Detail oriented.
  • Ability to multitask multiple projects with excellent time management skills.
  • Ability to create and manage construction budgets.
  • Must be willing to travel within the United States on behalf of Tunnel to Towers as needed.

Working conditions

Special Working conditions may include: a change in days worked, shift hours, and/or working conditions (outdoors or other locations) when participating and assisting in special events such as:
NYC Tunnel to Towers Run, golf outings, and other fundraising events, as required.
