Job description
Assist with leading a team in driving consistent policy interpretation and application of workplace policies and provide other support as necessary for championing and driving a culture of accountability, inclusiveness, and fairness. Assist with ensuring compliance with applicable civil rights laws via policy development and implementation, monitoring of procedures, investigations of Georgia Tech (GT) and University System of Georgia (USG) potential violations regarding alleged discrimination, harassment, violations of Title IX, and other sexual misconduct, and retaliation based on the protected categories.
- This position will interact on a regular basis with departmental leadership, managers, staff, and faculty.
- This position typically will advise and counsel: Institute leadership, departmental managers, HR, Legal Affairs, Risk Management, Institute Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion, Faculty Affairs, and the GT Police Department.
- This position will supervise assigned staff.
Responsibilities
Job Duty 1 -
Assist the Sr. Director- Employee Relations with directing and managing the day-to-day functions of the Affirmative Action (AA) /Equal Employment Opportunity (EEO)/Employee Relations unit
Job Duty 2 -
Assist with leading a team of Employee Relations consultants in ensuring the thorough investigation of employee workplace complaints and timely preparation of investigative reports and/or fact-finding summaries with analysis, findings, and recommended disciplinary or corrective actions.
Job Duty 3 -
Assist with creating an internal tracking mechanism to compile data and provide insights to department leadership to assist with identifying performance, conduct, or compliance-related training needs and administer regular developmental workshops.
Job Duty 4 -
Assist with aligning all campus-wide Performance Management initiatives and processes, including but not limited to GTRI, Enterprise Innovation Institute (EI2), and the Faculty Performance Management review process.
Job Duty 5 -
Assist with providing advice and consultation to managers on organizational policy and process matters with a high degree of confidentiality, integrity, ethics, initiative, and judgment.
Job Duty 6 -
Assist with updating policies, procedures, and guidance documents to promote consistent, fair, and lawful practices across the Institute. Develop and provide training sessions on employment-related matters, including discipline, HR policies, mandated work rules, EEO, and Title IX.
Job Duty 7 -
Assist in coaching and developing managers in the performance management process and reinforces the importance of employee development, rewarding high performance, and addressing low performance.
Job Duty 8 -
Advise and counsel managers and employees; facilitate discussion; serve as a mediator to assist parties in diffusing conflict. Serve as Title IX Hearing Coordinator for Staff related sexual misconduct matters
Job Duty 9 -
Monitors and tracks the status of employee performance reviews to ensure timely completion by all employees/managers within the established deadlines; and continually enhances the performance appraisal format and process to ensure a smooth implementation of the appraisal process.
Job Duty 10 -
Perform other related duties as assigned.
Required Qualifications
Educational Requirements
Bachelor's Degree or an equivalent combination of education and experience
Required Experience
Five to seven years of job-related experience
Preferred Qualifications
Preferred Experience
Prefer seven or more years of job-related experience. Experience in higher education, the public sector, government, or related industry is highly preferred.
Additional Preferred Qualifications
Certifications or licenses preferred:
Member of the Georgia State Bar, HR Certification, and AA/EEO Certification

Salary Range: $92,476-$125,768/yr

Must possess sound judgment to address and resolve conflict while preserving the dignity and esteem of others involved; ability to operate with discretion; ability to deliver services with a realistic/pragmatic approach based on sound judgment - balancing the needs of the Institute with the values, policies, and laws under which the Institute operates; ability to effectively manage multiple projects and tasks while maintaining accuracy and attention to detail.
