Pay Range is between $22.65 - $33.97/hr, depending on years of relevant and like experience.

POSITION SUMMARY

The Certified Athletic Trainer/Clinical Assistant is responsible for the smooth operation of physicians clinics within CU Sports Medicine and Performance Center.. Clinic duties include, but are not limited to rooming patients, obtaining and documenting patient history in electronic medical record, ordering x-rays per physician orders, preparing injections, assisting physicians with injections, preparing patients for injections, cast removal, fitting f braces, splints, and slings, suture removal, home exercise program instruction, and coordination of patients through their appointment . The ATC/Clinical Assistant will also triage patient phone calls, refill patient prescriptions, provide patients with provider directed follow up care, communicate with insurance companies regarding prior authorization for viscosupplementation, schedule Doppler Venous ultrasound procedures for patients and maintain Clinic inventory.

JOB QUALIFICATIONS

Education or Formal Training

EMT Certification or Medical Assistant Training preferred.

Special Qualifications (Licensure, Registration, etc.)

Colorado Athletic Trainer license BLS certification required by the end of the conditional period.

Experience

MA/ATC or medical back office experience in Orthopedic/Sports Medicine preferred.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Directs patients to appropriate treatment room, performs appropriate patient intake depending on the patient’s practitioner.
  • Provides patient teaching when appropriate.
  • Assists physicians and with patient treatment as appropriate, within scope of their practice (prep for injections, removal of sutures, taking of vital signs, etc..
  • Prepares and maintains clinic patient care areas and utility areas for safe use. Patient care areas include: examination rooms and cast room.
  • Brace fitting and splint manufacturing
  • Demonstrates knowledge of asepsis, medical terminology and medical systems.
  • Acts as information liaison between clinicians and patients and physicians.
