Job Summary
Under supervision of the JV Lead Auditor, perform Joint Venture (JV) audits, coordinate JV audits of Continental, schedule, prepare for and plan audits and assist in the execution of the Annual Joint Venture Audit Plan. Report joint venture results to management and appraise status of work performed by others and by Continental auditors.
Performs routine and structured work assignments. Contributes to projects within a team, function, or work group. Knowledge of fundamental theories, principles and practices in the area of specialization. Exercises limited discretion within established procedures to solve problems of limited scope and complexity. Works under direct supervision.
Duties and Responsibilities
  • The position requires strong investigative ability, knowledge of COPAS accounting procedures and an ability to analyze interpret and apply contract terms.
  • Evaluate audits to perform on a risk-based approach.
  • Perform Joint Venture audits of other Operators in-house and out-of-town as required.
  • Write information requests, preliminary findings, and audit reports; and finalize all aspects of work papers.
  • Review the work of peer auditors to determine audit objectives achieved and evidence supports claims as well as clear the review comments of the peer review.
  • Perform other audit work as required to meet the objectives of the department and company including tests of SOX controls, operational audits, well audits, payout audits, vendor audits and other assignments.
  • Host audits of Continental providing JADE and other information prior to audit fieldwork, schedule workspace and resources, if any required, for the performance of the audit, respond to written requests, maintain a log of requests, resolve exceptions and inquiries per COPAS protocol, JOA and accounting procedure language.
  • Identify exception items and formulate recommendations for improvements relating to Continental financial and operational controls.

Required Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field from an accredited College or University.
  • An acceptable pre-employment background and drug test.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Oil and gas experience preferred.
Physical Requirements and Working Conditions
  • Requires prolonged sitting, some bending and stooping.
  • Occasional lifting up to 25 pounds.
  • Manual dexterity sufficient to operate a computer keyboard and calculator.
