Job description
SCADA Automation Engineer, Hybrid Remote (Electric Power & Water)
Pay: $60,000-$120,000/year (approx $25-60/hr)

Schedule: Full Time, Day shift M-F (start at 7am, work week of 4 days or 6 hour days possible, longer days and overtime for startup weeks)
Hybrid remote based in any of these areas:
- Los Angeles, CA
- Culver City, CA (near Inglewood, CA)
- Riverside, CA
- near Big Bear, CA
- Boston, MA or New York, NY (near Martha's Vineyard, MA)
- open to other locations if you have SCADA specific experience
Requirements:
- Travel (25%) to client locations to perform installations & upgrades. Clients are water and electric companies located in Inglewood, CA and Big Bear, CA.
- Able to work overtime (e.g. 40-60 hours) during "startup" weeks, usually 2 weeks every 2-4 months
Required Skills:
- PLC programming best practices, use of Add-On Instructions, etc.
- HMI/SCADA/PLC hardware/software design and development for SEL, SEL RTAC, SEL RTAC HMI, Ignition, Factory Talk, Allen Bradley PLCs (RSLogix Studio 5000, PLC5 a plus) or Modicon
- Creating HMI screens and assigning tags, High performance HMI design best practices
- Using P&ID to create controls narrative, read and interpret electric schematic drawings and P&ID's to identify, troubleshoot, and repair systems
- Communication protocols - DNP, Modbus
- Layer 2 & 3 networking, experience with RUGGEDCOM switches a plus
- Project management experience
- Development of project proposals and estimates
- Documentation for programming and design changes, taking meeting minutes
- Field experience working in SCADA, startup, testing, and commissioning best practices for automation systems
- Industrial control systems programming and design
- Python, SQL (Microsoft SQL Server)
- Object oriented programming best practices, template/class design
- Knowledge of electricity, voltage, and current relationships
Other Skills:
- PID control loop tuning
- VFD drive communication and testing
- Markup/update drawings, AutoCAD
- Device and instrumentation configuration
- understanding of circuits, I/O verification, or using a multimeter to test signals (for example if you have experience working at a factory, HVAC, motors, actuators, pumps, panels, generators, etc.)

- Ability to handle multiple projects (e.g. working on projects for 2-3 different customers means working on one but remembering to follow up with another that same day, or working on 1 project in the morning and switching gears to work on a different project later that day while waiting for a call back for example)
- Taking ownership and being self-motivated, ability to manage calendar of appointments to set priority for tasks and remember to follow up
- Mentor junior team members and provide technical guidance and reviews
- Being proactive as issues arise
- Work safely and responsibly
- Demonstrate expertise and communicate well with customers
