TITLE: BILLING CLERK (TEMPORARY)
EXEMPT/NON-EXEMPT: Non-exempt
REPORTS TO: Billing Manager
REVISION DATE: 03/7/2023

**THIS IS A TEMPORARY POSITION FULL-TIME ON-SITE M-F**

SUMMARY OF POSITION: Under the direction of the Billing Manager to ensure and maintain that County revenue reports are in accordance with standards / rules / regulations for reimbursement of services delivered.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Review/process and submit claims for reimbursement.
  • Review/process and Invoice 3rd party insurance claims like Medicare, HMO, Kaiser etc.
  • Work on a daily basis with required Exym billing reports. (For example: No payer account for patient; Activities waiting for corrections; Not yet not approved, etc.)
  • Verify and ensure client’s Medi-Cal and Third Party eligibility is up-to-date on a monthly basis.
  • Manage Electronic Eligibility file 270 and 271 and follow Exym eligibility guidelines.
  • Review, follow up and fix clients missing information in billing system.
  • Assist and follow up with staff on billing errors, questions, requests for changes, client allocations, eligibility, and missing information need to close a case.
  • Upload 837 file to DMH on a weekly basis.
  • File EOB correspondence in client’s 3rd party chart.
  • Report Denied claims findings to Billing Manager to make funding decisions.
  • Review and update Patient Funding Source report submitted by support staff on a monthly basis to update eligibility findings like lost/gain/or changes.
  • Assigned new cases funding information.
  • Review and inform Billing Manager of client’s near Funding Source Age Limits to make necessary changes to funding depending on availability.
  • Download on a weekly basis Client and Activities Reports for QA/Billing Department.
  • Download and Upload EFT to update Exym Data Uploader.
  • Other duties as assigned related to the position.

MINIMUM JOB REQUIREMENTS:

  • High school graduate, and/or college course work a plus.
  • One to two years data entry, billing experience with Medi-Cal and Third Party Insurance. Experience with Exym preferred.
  • A minimum of 50wpm, 10key.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES REQUIRED:

  • Ability to work well under pressure, strong analytical skill to solve billing problems, attention to detail, excellent customer service.
  • Ability to meet deadlines.

WORKING CONDITIONS AND PHYSICAL EFFORT:

  • Work is normally performed in a typical interior/office work environment.
  • Limited physical effort required.
  • Work environment involves minimal exposure to physical risks, such as operating dangerous equipment or working with chemicals.

Pay: $18.00 per hour

Schedule:

  • 8 hour shift
  • Day shift
  • Monday to Friday
