Responsibilities:


The Business Intelligence Manager partners in making informed, data-driven decisions and promotes the advancement of the Regional Operating Units analytical culture and capabilities.


This role will be based in our Urbandale, IA office. We offer a hybrid work schedule with 3 days in the office; and 2 days remote where it makes sense to do so.
  • Leads in identifying and/or assists in prioritizing opportunities for improving business partner business intelligence reporting needs/wants. In addition, provides timelines and gathers appropriate requirements to keep aligned with business partner needs.
  • Provides new opportunities by leveraging analytic practices to design, build, create, high impact analytic solutions through data visualization techniques (dashboards, charts, etc.) thus allowing stakeholders to clearly and effectively act upon.
  • Communicates analytical results (ie – insights) effectively using business intelligence tools.
  • Leads and creates an environment of data reporting governance by providing structure and administration which must be adhered
  • Partners with Regional companies to access, explore and condition data while also improving the availability and quality.
  • As well as, develop and deploy solutions using data analysis, data mining, optimization tools, machine learning techniques and statistics.
  • Builds relationships within Regional companies and collaborates across WRBC (RSS, BTS, consultants, regions, Actuarial, Finance, Data Science, etc.) to identify and recommends business intelligence best practices (dashboard deployment, training, user groups).
  • Provide guidance on adoption of enhanced business intelligence industry techniques. Continuously learning within the evolving business intelligence landscape (new external data sources, 3rd party data integration, etc.)
  • Promotes the advancement of advanced analytics capabilities, including business intelligence and predictive/prescriptive modeling.
  • Builds relationships within the Regional Segment companies and collaborates across WRBC (RSS, BTS, consultants, Regions, Actuarial, Finance, Data Science, etc.) to identify and recommends business intelligence best practices (dashboard deployment, training, user groups, mentorships).

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree; or 5-7 years’ experience as a business analyst, actuarial analyst or other comparable analytics role
  • Possess strong analytical ability to dissect, manage and interpret all levels of data
  • Expertise in analyzing large, complex, multi-dimensional datasets using a variety of tools.
  • Strong business acumen with the ability to communicate with both business partner and IT leaders
  • In-depth knowledge of the business practice and process
  • Excellent interpersonal, verbal and written communication skills including presentation skills
  • Communicate effectively with all levels of the organization
  • Strong customer orientation, relationship building, teamwork and collaboration skills
  • Work independently as well as effectively manage a project and/or lead a team
  • Regularly and consistently demonstrates commitment to company values and guiding principles
  • Proficient with Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook
  • Microsoft Access, SAS, R, SQL and business intelligence/visual analytics skills required
  • Ability to travel on an occasional basis
