Nature of work

The purpose of Summer Fit Camp is to teach kids ages 6 to 12 years old how to establish healthy habits. The ideal Fit Camp counselor will enjoy working with children, understand the importance of a healthy lifestyles, and has the ability to work independently and as a team.

• Perform many important activities to provide children with a safe and positive learning environment. They work with the center director to develop program activities and lesson plans to support the development and cognitive growth of children at the child care center.

Physical Demands

• Spend most of their working hours in childcare learning facilities, taking field trips, and doing outdoor activities and sports. Deal with young, active children, the physical demands of the job may involve significant lifting, carrying, pushing and pulling, some climbing and balancing, and frequent stooping, kneel, such as arts and crafts and writing instructions, require significant fine finger dexterity.

Education and Training

• Must have training and knowledge pertaining to the safety of children.
• Able to participate, lead and encourage students to be active and physically fit.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

• Must have the clerical skills to prepare and maintain accurate records and perform basic lesson planning and documentation.
• Maintain a current working knowledge of the center's safety policy and adhere to it at all times.
• React quickly when children suffer injuries and know how to administer first aid.
• Must absorb and process instructions, whether written or oral, quickly and effectively.
• Knowledge of age-appropriate activities, positive reinforcement strategies and assertive discipline techniques are other important skills for the job.
• Strong communication and customer service skills.
• Must enjoy working with children.

Job Types: Full-time, Temporary, Internship

Pay: $11.00 - $15.00 per hour

License/Certification:

• Child Development Associate Certification (Preferred)
