EST End date - 5/20/2023
Shift - 8am - 430pm
PRIMARY FUNCTION:
To perform diagnostic cardiac ultrasound (echocardiography) procedures at the request of physicians to assist in the diagnosis of cardiovascular disease. Assist with the clinical training of students and Cardiology Fellows associated with the Non-Invasive Cardiovascular Lab.
PRINCIPAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Performs cardiac ultrasound procedures.
- Documents patient’s clinical history and technologist impressions of the images obtained on exam request forms.
- Assists the cardiologist with obtaining images and equipment operation during transesophageal echocardiography.
- Assist the cardiologist with obtaining images during stress echocardiography.
- Reviews images with the interpreting cardiologist before final interpretations are completed. (N/A for Cecil Campus)
- Performs work safely adhering to established departmental safety rules and practices.
- Reports to the Manager in a timely manner any unsafe activities, conditions, hazards or safety violations that may cause injury to one-self, other employees, patients and visitors.
- Assists in the instruction of cardiac ultrasound students and Cardiology Fellows during their practice performance at Christiana Care. (N/A for Cecil Campus)
- Rotates on on-call schedule covering off hours and weekend rotation.
- Performs other duties as required.
- Demonstrates skills and knowledge necessary to provide care appropriate to pediatric, adolescent, adult, and geriatric patients, including knowledge of growth and development, the ability to obtain and interpret information to identify patient needs, and provide the care needed.
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS:
- Associate degree from an accredited school of cardiovascular technology.
- Registered in cardiac sonography.
- CPR certification.
- IV experience with saline contrast and Definity contrast. (N/A for Cecil Campus)
- Experience in Transesophageal echo, stress echo, dobutamine stress echo and adult echo.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS:
Standing, pushing, pulling, sitting, reaching, and twisting continually from beginning to end of study completion.
Pushing 400+ pound ultrasound machine for portable studies.
WORKING CONDITIONS:
- Work in high volume area.
- Rotation to Echocardiography Lab’s at Wilmington Hospital, or satellite offices within the Non Invasive Outpatient Network. (N/A for Cecil Campus)
- Participation in echo on-call rotation schedule.
- Work in a dark exam room as well as tech room.
Job Type: Contract
Pay: $44.00 per hour

Experience:
- Echo tech: 2 years (Required)
License/Certification:
- BLS Certification (Required)
- RDCS or ARDMS (Required)
