Job Title: Care Support Worker
Location: Kilkenny Town, Co Kilkenny
This role is for experienced Social Care Support Workers, enabling persons with complex disability and mental health needs to live independently in the community. It enables the support worker to develop a wide range of skills with opportunities to work in a humanistic therapeutic way to bring out the potential in clients with very complex needs and enable them to live autonomous lives in with the right level of support. Our focus is on people, not on behaviour, and full training is provided. You must also be comfortable with the provision of personal care and patient handling and be capable of working to clinical standards of cleanliess within the home.

The Primary function of support staff is:
- To provide care and support within the home at the hours prescribed and to work with the client towards achieving the targets outlined in the care plan. Support staff will understand the primacy of the relationship between themselves and the client as a powerful tool to influence behaviour, and will at all times behave and interact with clients in a way which recognizes, values and respects this power;
- To enable clients with complex needs to live safely within their own homes and to support family members in creating and sustaining structures and programmes which enable the client to continue to live in a family environment where appropriate;
- To enable troubled clients to achieve positive progress which will maximize their chances of living independent and fulfilling adult lives;
- To contribute to the provision of safe, caring and supportive environments in which clients are enabled both to address specific areas of difficulty in their lives, and to enjoy as far as possible ‘normal’ age appropriate recreational and social activities;
- To contribute to the overall effectiveness of the organisation, and to strive towards excellence in care practice at all times through positive role modelling.
Person Specification:
Experienced Social Care Worker, or experience in relevant related fields, such as Mental Health.
Social Care Degree preferred but not essential.
Candidates must have a good standard of general education, including evidence of training undertaken in one or more of the following areas: residential care; therapeutic interventions; intellectual disability and/or autistic spectrum disorders; mental health; emotional and behavioural problems; challenging behaviour; attachment and child development theory; acquired brain injury; counselling. Must be comfortable with personal care and able to provide this support to a high standard.
Job Types: Part-time, Permanent
Part-time hours: 20 -30 per week
Salary: €37,500.00-€46,700.00 per year
