Catering and Events Manager
Job description
The person appointed will play a key role in running and managing all catering outlets on the MTU campus. All outlets are located on the Bishopstown campus. The Food Court and Bistro are sizeable, busy locations and are well established operations. The Food Court has other smaller sub units adjacent to/off it including a mobile coffee unit, a snack bar and a Costa Coffee outlet. There is a significant delivered services part of the business also. The person will work within an existing company management team and ensure the smooth, efficient operation of both each location and the company overall.
Main Duties & Responsibilities:
- Ensuring the smooth, daily operation of all catering outlets
- Help managing all aspects of these operations - open/close, managing staff, ordering stock, planning, HR/office duties, marketing duties
- Delivered services, functions and hospitality provisions will be a large part of this position
- Ensuring various behind the scenes areas are addressed - Food Safety, Health & Safety issues, staff training, reviews etc. These will be done in conjunction with the overall business
The successful candidate will have the following competencies, skills and experience as follows:
Essential:
- Good knowledge and background of a modern catering environment
- Knowledge and experience in running/organising a variety of functions/events
- Ability to manage multiple locations with multiple staff
-Ability to work as part of area team, management team and interact with kitchen personnel
- Abilities around ordering stock, manage same, stocktakes, deal with suppliers, tendering etc
- Some food knowledge, expertise and an understanding of modern catering trends
- Good computer and office skills
- Ability to bring in new products, set pricing, ensure margins are correct etc
- Initiative to run marketing exercises, proper signage onsite, run deals/competitions etc
- Ability to run social media channels and promote outlets
- Able to liaise closely with Company Suppliers on a range of areas
- Ability to deal with staff issues arising and solve same
- Capacity to work any area required - on-the-floor, at tills, behind hot counter etc at peak times and also in retail areas if required
Remuneration Details:
Salary scale is €32,000 - €38,000 per annum - depending on experience
2 year fixed term, 39 hours per week, daily hours
Annual leave is 25 days per annum pro rate
