The Highfield Healthcare Catering Department provide meals, snacks, beverages and sundries to our 300+ residents and patients as well as to our colleagues in the staff canteen and visitors to our coffee shop

Purpose of Post:

The primary purpose of the chef is to support the Head chef in the operation of food preparation and service in a busy private nursing home. This is an initial 6 month fixed term contract.

The Post Holder will:

• Prepare cook and present food to a high standard as instructed by Head chef/sous chef.
• Carry out instructions given by catering manager and chefs.
• Take responsibility in the kitchen as instructed and deputise when required.
• Adhere to all regulations in respect of Health and safety, hygiene, and documentation of temperatures and food sampling
• Ensure correct portion control and a working knowledge of modified diets.

Requirements:

• Certification from a recognised body.
• Allergen training is essential
• Previous experience as a chef in a busy setting.
• Have the ability to work as a team player.
• Have excellent attention to detail and hold a HACCP certificate.

Working Hours: 7.30am-6.30pm, alternative weekend work is required

The post holder will be required to demonstrate professionalism at all times through their work, conduct, appearance and in compliance with all the hospital policies and procedures.

The post holder will satisfy the occupational health requirements of the post and thereafter demonstrate their capability through satisfactory attendance. Each post holder must be of good character and satisfy the Garda Clearance requirements. The post holder also has a duty of care to be responsible for job specific safety and to comply with all health and safety requirements within Highfield Healthcare
