The Division of Science and Mathematics at Spring Hill College, a Jesuit liberal arts college in Mobile, AL, invites applications for a one-year Visiting Assistant Professor position starting Fall 2023. This appointment is for one year, with the potential for a longer-term appointment, based upon the needs of the College as well as the applicant’s qualifications and performance. The successful applicant will teach 12 credit hours or 15 contact hours per semester, with a focus on physical chemistry plus labs and inorganic chemistry plus labs (along with general chemistry plus labs).

The candidate should have a Ph.D. in Chemistry (or equivalent field) by the time of application, a commitment to pursuing excellence in undergraduate teaching and student mentoring, and a willingness to support the Jesuit mission (http://www.shc.edu). The department offers Bachelor of Science degrees (and minors) in either Chemistry or Biochemistry, supports an interdisciplinary Forensic Sciences minor, and offers general core courses to the student body. Preference will be given to candidates specializing in Physical Chemistry with the ability to teach Inorganic Chemistry, although applicants from other related fields of Chemistry are encouraged to apply.
