Abbott House is seeking a dynamic Chief Financial Officer (CFO) to join the leadership team of the organization. In this role you will be responsible for leading and supervising Abbott House’s finance and accounting functions. As a member of the executive leadership team, you will play a critical role in defining long-term strategy, developing and implementing financial processes, and providing stewardship over the organization’s resources. You will report directly to the CEO.

Key Responsibilities
- Oversee all financial operations including cash management, general accounting, budgeting, preparation of financial reports and presentations to the board of directors and the board’s audit and finance committee
- Assure compliance with federal, state and local regulations and laws regarding financial procedures of a not-for-profit 501c (3)
- Supervise the preparation of timely and accurate financial reports, including tax filings and analysis of performance, variance and cash flow
- Interact with government agencies and other funders and support colleagues on contract negotiations, billing and audits
- Manage all banking, legal, insurance and investment relationship
- Provide strong leadership in the recruitment, training, development and retention of top-quality talent to ensure optimal functioning of the Finance department
- Establish and maintain fiscal policies and procedures in all fiscal domains
- Develop new lines of business including mergers and acquisitions, where appropriate, to achieve established corporate goals
- Coordinate and prepare information for internal audits
- Perform routine program and fiscal analyses
About You
You are the ideal candidate if you have a proven record of successful non-profit financial management and a collaborative approach to business strategy and operations.
- You have a Bachelors in accounting, finance or related field with at least 10 years of experience in financial management within the NYC Child Welfare System ACS, NYS -OCFS and NYS OPWDD
- You have a Master’s of Business Administration (MBA) or related field with at least 7 years of experience in financial management within the NYC Child Welfare System ACS, NYS -OCFS and NYS OPWDD
- You have the ability to develop partnerships to ensure excellent working relationships and internal reporting to executive staff, other departments, as well as the Board of Directors.
- You have the ability to build relationships with those we serve and work with i.e., government departments, oversight bodies, banks, insurance, attorneys, etc.
- You have the ability to understand integration of various internal systems (i.e. ADP and various other subsidiary ledgers with general ledger, EHR with billing system, etc.)
- You understand rate structures and inter-relationship of cost reports and rates
- You have strong mentoring, supervisory, training abilities
- You are able to work closely with CEO and other members of the Executive team
- You are able and willing to translate complex financial information and best practices to non-financial staff at all levels.
