Responsibilities
The role of this position is to provide evidence-based injury prevention education and services to community members in the Greater Sacramento Region, with a primary focus on reducing childhood traffic related injuries. The primary responsibilities will be to provide car seat installation and inspection services at the Trauma Prevention Program office and work with program staff to deliver virtual and in-person child passenger safety education classes to parents and caregivers in the community. This position is responsible for assisting with organizing and conducting childhood injury prevention education events, supporting Trauma Prevention Program development, and assisting with program evaluation and reporting.
Required Qualifications
Applicants are encouraged to upload license and certification if required of the position.
  • Certification as a National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) Child Passenger Safety Technician (CPST) for Children with Special Transportation Needs. Must obtain within 3 months of hire, UCDH will provide training.
  • Associate or Bachelor’s degree, or similar professional experience.
  • Experience providing health and safety education and services to parents and caregivers.
  • Experience using virtual communication and education platforms.
  • Skills to work independently including prioritizing and following projects through to completion.
  • Proficient English language spelling and proof-reading skills.
  • Skills to organize and prioritize multiple tasks according to program needs and established deadlines.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Certification as a NHTSA CPST instructor strongly preferred
  • Bilingual fluency in understanding and speaking Spanish, Dari, or Pashto strongly preferred
  • Ability to maintain appropriate and professional interpersonal interactions with a variety of health care professionals.
  • Strong presentation skills with public speaking experience preferred.
  • Experience with data collection and entry preferred.
Special Requirements
  • Requires working outdoors in all weather conditions.
  • Requires moving car seats and training equipment to and from remote locations.
  • Requires entering and exiting vehicles to install and inspect child passenger safety seats.
  • Lifting requirement: Up to 10 Pounds (Sedentary) - Frequently, Up to 25 Pounds (Light) - Frequently, Up to 50 Pounds (Medium) - Occasionally
This position may be subject to a criminal background investigation, drug screen, Live Scan fingerprinting, medical evaluation clearance, and functional capacity assessment.
