Are you looking for a new and exciting career opportunity in engineering? The Department of Environmental Protection is seeking candidates for a Civil Engineer Trainee position.

DESCRIPTION OF WORK

As a Civil Engineer Trainee, this position will participate in a one-year, on-the-job training program to learn the duties of a Civil Engineer (Hydraulic).

This position performs a variety of advanced professional and engineering work supporting implementation of the Regional Permit Coordination Office (RPCO) and other related programs on a statewide basis in support of those entities involved in Ch. 102 and Ch. 105 authorizations. The position resides within the Construction Stormwater Section in the Regional Permit Coordination Office, Office of Program Integration.

This primary function of this position is to provide technical and engineering work to support core duties of implementation, planning, management, compliance and permitting programs associated with erosion and sediment (E&S) pollution control, NPDES construction permitting, post construction storm water management (PCSM) related to Chapter 102, as well as secondary function to provide support for water obstruction, encroachments, and wetland protection related to Chapter 105.

Work Schedule and Additional Information:

• 
  Full-time employment.
• Work hours are 8:00 am to 4:00 pm, Monday - Friday, with 30-minute lunch.
• This position will be headquartered in one of the following locations: Central Office, Harrisburg; Northcentral Regional Office, Williamsport; Northeast Regional Office, Wilkes-Barre; Southeast Regional Office, Norristown. The headquarter determination will be based upon which of the listed offices is closest to the selected candidate’s current headquarters.
• Telework: You may have the opportunity to work from home (telework), part-time up three days a week. In order to telework, you must have a securely configured high-speed internet connection. If you are unable to telework, you will have the option to report to the selected headquarters office.
• Salary: In some cases, the starting salary may be non-negotiable.

QUALIFICATIONS

• 
  You must have successfully examined and have a current score on file. If you have not already done so, you must first apply to the CIVIL ENGINEER TRAINEE (ONLINE EXAM) posting and follow the directions provided.
• PA residency requirement is currently waived for this title.
• You must be able to perform essential job functions.

Condition of Employment:

• This position requires possession of a valid non-commercial Class C Driver’s License.
