Claims Adjuster


Job Description:


Claims Adjuster will confirm coverage, take recorded statements from all parties, determine liability, establish damages-including total loss, issues settlement checks and recognizes subrogation potential.


Duties:

  • Identify coverage issues through policy interpretation or confirm applicable coverage
  • Effectively communicate verbally and in writing.
  • Ability to quickly build rapport and provide exceptional customer service
  • Excellent organization and problem-solving skills.
  • Maintain compliance with the Department of Insurance in the applicable state
  • Maintain current and effective diary program
  • Evaluate each claimant for compensability

Qualifications:

  • 2 or more years of automobile claims experience.
  • Non-standard auto experience preferred.
  • Strong negotiation skills.
  • Ability to multitask and prioritize.
  • Strong customer service skills.
  • Proficient in basic computer skills.
  • Knowledge of automobile damage and mechanics of injury.
  • Bilingual in English/Spanish a plus.
  • Ability to interpret insurance policy language and to adhere to Department of Insurance regulations.
Required:
  • High school diploma and 4+ years related claims experience required.
  • Appropriately licensed and/or certified in all states in which claims are being handled.
  • Knowledge of accepted industry standards and practices.
  • Experience with related claims and business software.
Preferred:
  • Bachelor's Degree preferred.
  • Bilingual Spanish a plus.
Key Characteristics:
  • Excellent judgement and decision making skills to ensure claims are resolved in the best interest of the Company.
  • Ability to combine pieces of information to form conclusions necessary to determine coverage, evaluate liability and evaluate damage exposures to ensure the claims are paid in a fair and equitable manner.

  • Must have unrestricted work authorization to work in the United States.
