Clinical Neuropsychologist: Director of Clinical Neuropsychology Division
About the position
We have a full-time director (or 2 staff part-time) position available for a licensed clinical neuropsychologist to join the clinical staff at NCBI.
Primary Role
This is a clinical lead position with evaluation and management patient care responsibilities, overseeing a team of clinicians, performing exams and interpretations of neuropsychological test data, formulating impressions and treatment recommendations summarized in a written report.
Patient Population
Depending on each candidate's specialty within the field of clinical neuropsychology, she or he would be assigned to work within one or more of our centers at NCBI. As described below, we have 5 centers represented at each of our 3 outpatient centers in New Jersey that serve patients and their families presenting with neurodevelopmental, neuropsychiatric, sleep and neurodegenerative disorders as well as with acquired and traumatic brain injuries. Common disorders diagnosed and treated at NCBI include: ADHD, Autism, neuropsychiatric syndromes secondary to acquired and traumatic brain injuries, mood disorders, somatoform disorders, OCD and Tourette's syndrome, as well as psychotic and personality disorders, sleep disorders and neurodegenerative diseases.
Location
The primary clinical location for this position is out of our Livingston, NJ at the RWJ Barnabas Health Ambulatory Care Clinic with 1-2 days coverage at our clinic in Mt. Arlington, NJ. Hybrid remote work option 1 day weekly is also an option if preferred.
Brain Imaging
For those candidates with electrical neuroimaging and/or fMRI training and clinical experience in brain mapping, responsibilities will include interpreting brain mapping results. Training in resting state and functional neuroimaging for those qualified candidates is also an option for those clinical neuropsychologists interested in this area of clinical neurodiagnostics.
Clinical Research
Additionally, there are plenty of opportunities to work as a sub-investigator or PI on one or more clinical research studies. Clinical research trials include neuroimaging, neuromodulation and drug treatment trials across a number of clinical neuroscience studies.
Other duties include performing:
- Biopsychosocial histories, although most of these are performed by intake coordinators
- Sensorimotor and neurobehavioral exams
- Structured psychiatric exams
- Administering specialized neuropsychological diagnostic measures via semi-structured exams across a variety of disorders such as Autism, Schizophrenia and bipolar spectrum disorders, personality disorders, OCD, PTSD as well as specialized diagnostic interviews for parents/children presenting with mood disorders
- Options to provide individual psychotherapy can be offered for those candidates wishing to treat patients with cognitive and neuropsychiatric disorders as well as options for providing other interventions and modalities such as behavioral therapy, cognitive rehabilitation as well as behavioral health interventions
- Staff training and supervision
- Psychopharmacological consultation for prescribing clinicians
Qualifications
You must be licensed in your state as a (clinical) psychologist with the capability of becoming licensed in NJ within the next several months of your hire and have or be eligible for CMS credentialing. Applicants can apply if they have an Ph.D. in clinical psychology and have completed an accredited internship and post-doctoral fellowship/residency program in clinical neuropsychology and preferably have a board certification in clinical neuropsychology. Candidates should have at least 3 years of clinical experience as a licensed clinical psychologist specializing in clinical neuropsychology.
Salary and Benefits
Competitive base salary ($110,000 to 140,000) with quarterly cash bonuses and other incentives and benefits (healthcare, company matched 401k contributions with profit-sharing and paid leave) as described within. Career advancements include: Center Director at one or more of NCBI’s centers.

NCBI clinics are located in Morris, Somerset and Essex County NJ. We also have a very active clinical research division where we conduct early-late drug development, functional brain mapping and neuromodulation research.
