The School of Nursing and Midwifery, University of Galway, is a dynamic, innovative, research active School with vibrant teaching and research programmes. The school invites applications for the post of Clinical Tutor in Gerontological Nursing, temporary specific purpose contract, 1FTE. Effective from January 2023 (or as near as possible thereafter). This post is being offered as a specific purpose contract and will terminate by reason of the expiry of its specific purpose. It is anticipated that the duration of this assignment will be circa 6 months.

This is a joint initiative between the School of Nursing and Midwifery, University of Galway and the Health Service Executive – Nursing and Midwifery Planning and Development Unit (NMPDU) HSE West Mid West. The post is constituted as a 50:50 commitment in which the holder devotes 50% of their time to the School of Nursing and Midwifery and 50% to the NMPDU as a Clinical Facilitator (Gerontology).
Within the School of Nursing & Midwifery the succesful candidate will be responsible for a variety of duties in teaching, student supervision, programme administration, curriculum development, course planning, and organisation They will also be expected to contribute to teaching across school programmes both in classroom and online and contribute to the research outputs of the school as appropriate. Within the NMPDU they will support and facilitiate services informed by national policy – National Clinical and Integrated Care Programmes, Sláintecare, Enhanced Community Care and developing Regional Health Authorities as well as contributing to the development of and support of student placements, professional practice, education, and research within older persons services.

Salary:
Appointment will be made on the Clinical Tutor 1 salary scale: €58,567 – €68,968 per annum or Clinical Tutor 2: €70,533 - €86,375 per annum pro rata.
The relevant salary scale will be determined based on candidate’s experience.
This appointment will be made on Clinical tutor scale in line with current Government pay policy.
(For pre 1995 public sector entrants in Ireland, the D class Salary rates will apply)
Garda vetting may apply.
