You will collaborate with physicians and their staff to review medical records and other clinical documentation to ensure the accuracy, completeness, specificity, and appropriateness of diagnosis codes based on services rendered. A DAY IN THE LIFE OF A CODING SPECIALIST

As a Coding Specialist, you will be responsible for reviewing medical records, coding, abstracting, and analyzing physician documentation, and consulting with physicians in assigning appropriate clinical diagnosis and procedure codes.

Other Duties Include

• Assesses and interprets whether the coding assigned is proper based on a review of the medical documentation and coding guidelines.
• Follows the Official ICD-10 guidelines for coding and reporting and has a complete understanding of the guidelines.
• Follows CMS rules and regulations.
• Query physicians for documentation and diagnostic clarification.
• Ability to meet productivity and accuracy standards.

QUALIFICATIONS

• CPC or CCS certification required.
• High school diploma or higher.
• Must be able to work well and interact with others in a positive and professional manner.
• Must have an excellent understanding of medical terminology, disease process and anatomy, and physiology.
• Current knowledge of ICD-10.
• Organized and Detail-Oriented
• Strong computer skills with Microsoft Word, Microsoft Outlook, and Excel.
• eCW(eClinical Works) experience preferred
• Must have a valid Florida driver's license and reliable transportation as this position will require traveling in their designated region.
