COMMERCIAL PROPERTY SERVICE TECHNICIAN – SANTA BARBARA, CA
The Towbes Group, Inc., a premier property management company in Santa Barbara, with over 60 years has an immediate opening for an experienced Service Technician supporting our Commercial Properties portfolio! The Role
You will be responsible for prioritizing, managing, and completing work orders related to the maintenance and preventative maintenance of the properties within the commercial portfolio. Additionally, this position may be asked to provide oversight and/or complete work related to tenant and capital improvement projects throughout the commercial portfolio.
The scope of work includes (but is not limited to): responding to work order requests with solutions of how to resolve the issue, coordinating and overseeing vendors assigned to the work, performing hands-on work as qualified to do so, and generating follow up reports to close out completed work orders and/or daily reports.
Position Duties
- Communicate regularly with the Commercial Property Management Department to give and receive both direction and feedback related to the ongoing status of property maintenance, preventative maintenance, and work orders
- Communicate with vendors, subcontractors, architects, engineers, and governmental agencies as needed to complete the work
- Communicate with property tenants as needed in a professional manner
- Assess property/building conditions, compile information for preventative maintenance reports, and provide recommendations for ongoing maintenance and repair
- Perform facilities/construction work and/or delegate to others
- Responsible for self-managing time, schedules, and priorities, as well as directing others to complete work in a timely, efficient, and cost-effective manner
- Expected to utilize professional decision-making and technical knowledge to carry out assigned duties with a minimum of guidance and supervision
- Follow established methods and procedures; refer exceptions to supervisor
Education, Experience & Requirements
- 5 years of property services experience and/or construction trade experience
- Must have basic reading, writing, and math skills
- Must be able to walk, climb, or otherwise safely navigate around worksites exposed to moving objects, noise, elements, uneven terrain, and potentially hazardous conditions.
- Must be organized and able to communicate effectively and professionally either verbally, orally, or via a computer
- Must be detail-oriented with strong organizational skills
- Satisfactory references and background check, including a valid California Driver’s License and clean DMV record
Key Competencies
- Ability to independently plan work, secure materials, and perform hands-on tasks necessary to complete the work
- Ability to use hand and power tools safely and effectively
- Ability to read and interpret construction plans and specifications.
- Ability to lift, push, pull, or otherwise move up to 100 pounds of materials, equipment, or supplies
- Excellent interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills

Hourly Pay Range: $25.38 - $38.08
