We are currently looking for an experienced Loan Officer with a residential lending background. The ideal candidate should have connections within the community to help foster their success with loan originations. Positions are available in Staten Island and Brooklyn and our lending areas include NY, NJ, PA and CT.

Essential Job Duties

This position requires extensive external contacts. Interact with internal team members and within the community assigned, developing new relationships and maintaining existing relationships.

• Interview applicants to obtain and analyze pertinent financial and credit data to assist in determining whether the loan will be an acceptable risk.
• Assess applicant’s credit worthiness and issue pre-qualification statement of borrowers’ eligibility.
• Determine which products best meet the customer’s needs and financial circumstances and advises potential borrowers regarding the advantages and disadvantages of different financial products and the most appropriate mortgage loan programs.
• Make recommendations to customers regarding other bank products or to alternative lending vehicles, as needed.
• Develop new mortgage business which includes solicitation of residential mortgages through contacts.
• Ensure lending compliance with all origination procedures including bank policies and procedures and regulatory requirements.
• Attend meetings and training programs as required.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

Education and Qualifications

At least 5 years’ experience originating residential loans and high school diploma (or equivalent) required. College degree in business, finance, banking, real estate, or a related field a plus, or equivalent combination of education and experience.

· Thorough knowledge of conventional loan requirements.

· Knowledge of real estate market in lending areas.

· Technical skills with general knowledge of personal computers and software programs (Microsoft Office Suite, Word and Excel) and Encompass LOS.

· Ability to interact with individuals at all income levels and peers in a professional manner.

· Demonstrated ability to work independently and to follow through on details to completion.

· Ability to work under critical time constraints.

· Foster open lines of communication bank wide. You would be expected to expand and maintain your customer base along with participating in local community groups and organizations.

· Self-motivated, well-organized, proven sales ability, strong mathematical skills, excellent written and verbal communication skills, superb interpersonal and customer service skills, and exceptional decision-making ability.

Salary: $15.00/hr + Commission
