Our Compliance Specialists support the Compliance team by assisting with the completion of LIHTC files on lease up, assisting with preparing and conducting pre-audits, and supporting on-site staff by fielding questions directly related to income and asset eligibility, student eligibility, EIV, and community-specific compliance requirements. The position includes conducting community visits to review move in and recertification resident files as well as completing annual/quarterly/monthly compliance reports as required. The Specialist will attend various on-site audits from partners, investors and state regulatory agencies as well as maintain a personal knowledge base through continuing compliance education opportunities.
A successful candidate must be compliance-focused, flexible, and able to organize their daily work volume well. They must be analytical, have a high sense of investigative curiosity, and will be expected at all times to maintain a pleasant, friendly, and professional attitude. We prefer at least three years of experience demonstrating the ability to review, comprehend and administer affordable housing programs (including financial eligibility determinations). A full understanding of the LIHTC program as well as the HUD Handbook 4350.3 rules and regulations is required.
Candidates will also be required to hold, at minimum, one of the following credentials: LIHTC Industry and/or Affordable apartment management certifications (C3P, HCCP, TCS, SHCM, CPO, COS). Additional Fair Housing or other related Affordable Housing training or certifications are also preferred. A knowledge of Yardi is also encouraged.
