Monell Chemical Senses Center is the world’s only independent, non-profit scientific institute dedicated to interdisciplinary basic research on the senses of taste and smell. The Research Grants & Contracts Administrator works withprincipal investigators and grant specialists to prepare federal and state grant applications for an independent scientific research institute. The Administrator is also responsible for supporting post-award activities, including submitting annual reports to the state and NIH, monitoring progress on Industry grants, communicating with the Controller about Industry invoicing, and supporting business office operations as needed. The Research Grants & Contracts Administrator is flexible and offers additional support as needed to meet deadlines. This is an administrative position that reports to the Director of Research Administration.
Responsibilities include but are not limited to:
· Offers support and advice to grant applicants and grant specialists for the preparation of successful federal and state proposals.
· Maintains working knowledge of grant-related regulations and policies to advise faculty, grant specialists, and other staff.
· Meets with grant applicants and grant specialists as needed to ensure proposal deadlines are met.
· Monitors and fact checks data entered by the grant specialists to facilitate grant tracking, and serves as the administrative coordinator of Grant Review & Discovery meetings
· Prepares budgets as needed for grant applications. Double-checks budgets prepared by grant specialists.
· Facilitates communication between the Director of Research Administration, Directors responsible for Industry, Foundation, and other grants, and the Controller
· Prepares weekly reports for the Director of Research Administration to aid in the oversight of the grant department
· Works with the Director of Research Administration to prepare monthly and quarterly reports
Qualifications:
· A Bachelor’s Degree with 3-5 years of experience in Research Administration is required. A degree in a scientific discipline is preferred.

Pay: $65,000.00 - $85,000.00 per year
