Mitsubishi Electric Trane HVAC US LLC is looking for a Manager - Applied Controls Engineering in Suwanee, GA

POSITION SUMMARY:

The Controls Applications team’s mission is to provide the highest level of support and services related to all Mitsubishi Electric Trane HVAC products and offerings. This team will interface with all METUS departments and external customers as needed to help drive the overall business. Controls Applications’ capabilities include sales engineering, engineering, installation support and project management, advanced integration support and advanced training. Specific services include controls applications and design assistance, building automation system packages, building automation systems integration, cloud and IoT offerings, energy apportionment services, energy efficiency design and post-sale advanced controls services.

The Manager of Applied Controls Engineering is responsible for ensuring the delivery of consistent, high quality, and competitive advanced-controls, waterside, & energy products and engineering services.

The areas of responsibility for the role include the execution of Controls Applications projects, sales support, estimation, engineering management of hardware design, network layout, and logistics coordination of controls systems ranging in size from a single piece of equipment through enterprise-level systems that span cities and beyond with a focus on critical building systems and applications. The Manager of Applied Controls Engineering will design, implement, and support applied controls offerings for systems including domestic hot water, chilled water, data center cooling, and more. Additional responsibilities include support of and coordination with other internal teams.

The essential functions of the position include, but are not limited to the following:

  • Design new-to-market controls offerings to complement new and existing product lines that are scalable and consistent with the brand.
  • Research and analyze existing controls and IoT products on the market to create solutions.
  • Collaborate with Mechanical, Electrical, and Plumbing engineers both internally and externally to design and apply the most effective offering for projects.
  • Collaborate with Project Managers to review, support, and provide guidance on project installations and start-ups when needed.
  • Work with compliance authorities as needed to acquire necessary approvals for products.
  • Create, maintain, and communicate standard practices library for future products and projects.
  • Produce project documentation including engineered drawings, detailed control panel drawings, installation wiring diagrams, piping schematics, sequence of operations, terminal drawings, and formalized submittal packages.
  • Support logistics activities sourcing, procuring, and receiving materials for projects.
  • Work closely with Product Planning to ensure successful applied controls product launches and ongoing support throughout the product lifecycle.
  • Perform engineering design including station creation, programming, and graphics creation for BAS and IoT projects utilizing the team standards and best practices.
  • Assist internal teams with technical application and estimate project costs for Controls Applications sales.
  • Utilize CRM and Project Management software for regular communication with internal teams and project tracking & support.
  • Support development teams with testing for new and existing projects.
  • Provide leadership, mentoring, and training for internal teams.
  • Up to 50% travel
  • Mentor and support other team members.

Education/Experience/Training:

  • Minimum 7 years of experience with critical building systems, water side products, and data centers.
  • 10 or more years of technical experience including HVAC equipment, controls system design, building management, or integration experience.
  • Experience working with authority having jurisdiction and compliance organizations.
  • B.S. degree in electrical/computer/mechanical engineering, computer science or technical degree in HVAC Control Systems or Computer Networking, or equivalent work experience
  • Technical experience with HVAC controls fundamentals and ancillary technology including but not limited to, BMS software, LonWorks, BACnet, MODBUS, and IP networks.
  • Excellent computer skills with Microsoft Office and similar standard business software applications.
  • Strong communication, presentation, training, and technical writing skills.
  • Analytical approach to problem solving.
  • Team oriented and self-motivated.

The base pay range for this position at commencement of employment is expected to be between $96,000 and $132,000/year however, base pay offered may vary depending on multiple individualized factors, including market location, job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. The total compensation package for this position may also include other elements, including target bonus plans and discretionary awards. Subject to the terms and conditions of the applicable plans then in effect, eligible employees may enroll in a 401(k) plan, as well as participate in Company-sponsored medical, dental, vision, and basic life insurance plans for the employee and the employee’s eligible dependents. Employees will also receive 80 hours of vacation per year, 56 hours of paid sick leave annually, and 13 paid holidays throughout the calendar year, depending on hire date. Employees may also take up to 12 weeks of paid or unpaid [parental/disability/emergency/etc.] leave, if eligible.

If hired, employee will be in an “at-will position” and the Company reserves the right to modify base salary (as well as any other discretionary payment or compensation program) at any time, including for reasons related to individual performance, Company or individual department/team performance, and market factors.
