Into the dynamic and growing UK and Ireland Division where the payment and banking industry is undergoing significant changes with increasing regulation, competition and nationalism, the Ireland Country Manager (CM) is accountable for managing all bank customer relationships and business opportunities within Ireland. This will include providing strategic customer solutions and achieving mutual goals through leveraging cross functional project teams, systems and processes in order to prioritise and proactively respond to customer requirements.

Reporting into the Senior Vice President Bank Partnerships – UK and Ireland, the Ireland Country Manager has the accountability for setting the business objectives within the market, defining the strategic direction (together with regional leadership) and will contribute to the overall growth and success of the company.

This will be achieved through growth initiatives and implementation of the company strategy, working with broad set of partners, including banks, payment enablers, government, retailers, in order to accelerate digitization of payments, increase acceptance, develop new payment flows investment.

Role

Financial Objectives:
  • responsible for the performance of all Mastercard's bank partnerships business in Ireland in delivering the revenue budget/targets in line with the UK and Ireland requirements.

Mastercard representative with customers, business partners, external relations:
  • Customer Relationship Management for all partnerships operating in the market; the Country Manager provides business direction to the account management team, which report directly into the Country Manager, provides support to the Global Accounts operating in the country, and remains the key partner for all topics and questions related to Mastercard.

  • Provides leadership for the tactical and strategic approach to market (customer marketing, marketing campaigns, channel development, public relations, media and press, company brand and image) for consistency in engagement, distribution and fulfillment locally.
Represents Mastercard externally through engagements with government departments, industry bodies, media and new market entrants.

Regulatory:
  • Is a key representative (supported by public affairs colleagues) to local Ireland authorities and industry boards in line with the Corporate regulatory and public affairs strategy
  • Partner with local senior management team on Mastercard Tech Hub development and expansion.

Experiences:
  • Extensive Account Management experience
  • Solid experience of progressive sales and relationship management experience within payments industry
  • Must demonstrate strong influencing and negotiation skills.
  • Demonstrate leadership capabilities in building, leading and developing high performance teams.
  • Demonstrate proven ability to develop and successfully implement, quantifiable business plans.
  • Extensive industry knowledge and networking.
  • Have an entrepreneurial approach and vision.
  • Strong analytical skills from a product management/profitability perspective.
  • Outstanding communication skills from a written, verbal and presentation perspective
  • Experience and proven track record of successful matrix management.
  • Comprehensive experience executing and managing sales strategies
  • Good financial acumen, revenue management and P&L experience
  • Strong track record in commercial and consumer card business with global experience (ideal)
  • Education: Masters / Business School / Degree.
