- In this role, the Unit Clerk is responsible for providing clerical support to a nursing unit. The unit clerk will interact with patients, families, visitors, and employees.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
- Duties include: answering telephone, distributing mail to patients, taking and relaying messages, beeping and paging personal, requesting patient services such as telephone, television and making clinic appointments
- Puts patient record together and maintains chart in good condition through proper filing of reports and adding pages as needed; label each sheet in patient record.
- Delivers Discharge Notices to all discharged or potentially discharged patients. Assembles discharged patients charts; removes all chart forms from binder.
This is a full-time night position (11:45PM-7:45AM) at Brooklyn Methodist Hospital
EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS:
- High School Diploma or Equivalency required
- Minimum of one-year previous clerical experience necessary; Unit Clerk experience preferred.
- Must be able to communicate effectively with all levels of staff
- Must have strong computer skills
- Knowledge of Cerner and Eagle is a plus
