Ginger Cove is currently seeking a Director of Culinary Services for our campus in Annapolis, MD.

The Director is responsible for the operational functions of the department, as well as provide department leadership, program vision, staff development and program advocacy within Ginger Cove.


ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:


  • Ensure residents and families receive the highest quality of service in a caring and compassionate atmosphere which recognizes the individuals' needs and rights.
  • Establish, document, direct, and assist with general kitchen and dining room sanitation procedures.
  • Recruit, hire, train, discipline, and supervise a full complement of culinary staff.
  • Preparation of Culinary & Dining Services department operating and capital budget.
  • Achieve and maintain budgeted food cost allowances through responsible sourcing, menu creation and procurement.
  • Sets measurable, quarterly KPIs for direct reports to evolve and improve the business and holds managers accountable for successful performance and execution.
  • Envision and work in not only day-to-day operations, but have comfort with and experience in strategic planning and development.
  • Participate in daily pre-shift meetings and share your creative ideas with the team to ensure a consistently elevated experience for our residents.
  • Coordinate with leadership team for any special functions or needs of residents.
  • Work with our culinary team to develop new menu items; creating, testing, and refining recipes.
  • Continuously contribute to the resident experience by showcasing your unique skills and applying your knowledge to elevate the culture of our community.
  • Comply with all state, local, or federal rules, regulations, and licensing requirements related to health, safety (OSHA) and general operations of the Culinary department.
  • Other duties as assigned.

EXPERIENCE:


  • Ten years management and operational experience in institutional food service required, healthcare experience preferred; operational management experience of a program of similar size and diversity.
  • Strong strategic and operational planning capability.
  • Results-oriented and impeccably organized.
  • A proactive team player that embodies our spirit of entrepreneurship and mutual respect.
  • Must have demonstrated and proven leadership and management skills in a progressive role in food services.
  • Ability to organize, supervise, delegate and provide leadership.
  • Good communication skills; must be able to demonstrate effective reading, writing, speaking and analytical skills.
  • Strong interpersonal and problem-solving abilities.
  • Most possess concern, responsiveness, and tact when dealing with others.
  • Must be able to interface with people at all levels and with residents in a positive and professional manner.
  • Prefer experience within senior living or healthcare environments, must be sensitive to needs of senior population.
  • Must be able to work collaboratively with others to help colleagues to achieve respective goals for creating wellness opportunities and experiences for our residents.
  • Must be able to work evenings, holidays, weekends as assigned.
  • Full Covid-19 vaccination required.

EDUCATION:


  • Bachelor’s degree required, preferably in Culinary Arts, Hospitality, Nutrition or Business. An Associate’s degree in one of the above disciplines may be acceptable with progressive related experience.
  • American Dietary Association certification preferred.
  • Must be Serv Safe certified, or willing to obtain certification upon acceptance of employment offer.
