TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT: 10.5-month employment with benefits as specified in the Certified Agreement.

Purpose: Jefferson City School District is currently seeking qualified applicants for the position of a Curriculum Coordinator. The coordinator will support all K-12 staff with the development and implementation of the district curriculum. This coordinator position will primarily be focused on secondary mathematics, but may periodically serve in additional content areas and assessment. In addition, the coordinator will work directly with teachers, coaches, and administrators to provide classroom-based demonstrations, collaborative and one-on-one support, and facilitate teacher inquiry and related professional development. The coordinator will be responsible for the process of assessment development and resource decisions related to curriculum development. This person will work closely with other district coordinators.

Education:

• Bachelor’s degree in education.
• Valid teaching certificate.
• Master’s degree in job-related area.
• Content knowledge in Secondary Mathematics is preferred.

Preferred Experience/Qualifications:

• Minimum of 3 years of job-related experience in curriculum and instruction.
• Previous experience in curriculum design and implementation.
• School leadership and/or professional development experience.

Responsibilities:

• Serves as a resource person in curriculum and instruction across subject areas, primarily Secondary Mathematics.
• Provide leadership to assure correlation between district curriculum and state/national standards.
• Facilitate and support the development of curriculum, assessments and resources.
• Work directly with principals and teachers in schools to provide classroom-based demonstrations, collaborative and one-on-one support.
• Facilitate and support the use of Schoolnet.
• Facilitate and support the Rigorous Curriculum Design (RDC) model of curriculum development.
• Work collaboratively with the Chief of Learning and the Directors of Elementary and Secondary to assess the use of assigned district curriculum programs and materials to evaluate program effectiveness.
• Support K-12 staff in the implementation of the district curriculum.
• Focus on and support enhancing teachers’ ability to provide instruction that builds students’ engagement and ownership of learning.
• Facilitate teacher inquiry and related professional development.
• Provide individualized, classroom-based support to implement comprehensive instruction, including modeling of best teaching practices.
• Provide and participate in professional development opportunities for administrators, teachers and other staff members.
• Remain current and informed on regarding effective and innovative instructional practices and shares in a variety of forums, including coaching sessions, lesson demonstrations, study groups, staff meetings and professional development opportunities.
