Scope of Position: The position of Janitor is to provide a clean and presentable workspace according to the standards set forth by the officers and the state government. It is the responsibility of this position to maintain a clean and well-maintained building in all areas.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Required:
- Ability to problem solve.
- Strong focus on cleaning and organizational skills.
- Ability to prioritize, maintain schedule, be self-motivated, and can work independently with minimal supervision.
- Good verbal and written communication skills.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Keep the Officer’s, Business Administrator’s, Social Service offices and common areas clean and organized, including but not limited to vacuuming, emptying trash, washing windows (including sills and framework), cleaning and organizing storage areas, dusting, washing floors, cleaning carpets, and cleaning tables, chairs, and other furnishings as necessary.
- Keep the Chapel clean by emptying trash, dusting, and vacuuming floors. Ensure seats are straightened and Song books are picked up and placed in proper storage area.
- Keep the kitchen and dining area, social service foyer, and food pantry clean by emptying trash, cleaning windows inside (including sills and framework), wiping down all counters and tables, sweeping, dust mopping, and mopping floors. Cleaning up boxes, as needed, and disposing of boxes not needed and storing those needed in Box truck.
- Every 5th Friday deep clean the kitchen, stoves, grease trap, and hood filters.
- Keep all restrooms clean, daily clean porcelain fixtures and mirrors. Empty trash and check paper supplies and soap. Vacuum and mop as needed.
- Ensure that adequate paper supplies and soap are in place for special events/activities.
- Keep the exterior of the property clean, including but not limited to, picking up trash, sweeping walkways, washing exterior windows as needed. Pressure washing parking lot and sidewalks as necessary.
- Empty donation bins weekly. Maintain and organize downstairs donations.
- Fridays: check in with supervisor prior to end of shift to determine if there are any special needs for Sunday services.
Physical Requirements: Must be able to lift 50 lbs. and up to 100 lbs. with assistance, standing, bending, twisting, climbing, and reaching; driving in all weather conditions; ability to speak, read, and understand the English Language. Must be able to stand for 8 hours.
Working Conditions: Working in all weather conditions.

Education and Work Experience:
- Education: High School Diploma or equivalent
- Minimum 1 year janitorial and/or maintenance experience preferred.
