Department Overview
The Technology team provides the digital foundations for projects, programmes, and enterprises to succeed – delivering objectives and achieving outcomes.
Our aim is to unlock the potential of technology, data, and information modelling to drive performance, support great decision-making and create collaborative working environments, with strategies that deliver valuable analytics and insights, or enable performance benchmarking throughout the asset lifecycle.
We work with our clients to use technology smarter, to better plan and manage the design, construction, and operation of their assets.
Our services span applies to projects, programmes, enterprises, and built-asset solutions across all sectors. We cover the entire supply chain including strategic definition and planning, set-up of programmes, control and management of work, and implementation of leading-edge digital solutions that support better use of data and information.
Our specialist staff work globally, using cutting edge tools and techniques to deliver the vision of the world’s best clients.
Key Responsibilities
The individual will have the opportunity to work alongside a highly skilled team delivering and implementing Data Architecture from strategy level to project level for global clients.
To fulfil the duties of a Data Architect
- Design and build data models to fulfil the strategic data needs of the business
- Undertake design, support, and provide guidance for the upgrade, management, de-commission, and archive of data in compliance with data policy
- Translate business requirements into technical specifications
- Provide input into data dictionaries and data entity diagrams
- Provide technical leadership and direction for development teams
- Build effective relationships with senior technical staff so that there is a common understanding of goals and challenges
- Ensure that integrity and security of data is established and maintained
- Develop database solutions in line with business functional and non-functional requirements
- Improve system performance by conducting tests, troubleshooting, and integrating new features
- Define security and backup procedures
- Collaborate and coordinate with technical teams, business teams, partners and external vendors
- Peer review work produced by colleagues maintaining T&Ts quality measures
- Support colleagues with project deliverables
- Create and contribute to bid proposals
- Act as an ambassador championing the digital services delivered by T&T
Qualifications
- Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written, to influence business and technology leaders
- Data analysis and synthesis. Present clear insights to colleagues to support the end use of data
- Data communication. Create visuals and presentations
- Data Governance. Take responsibility for the assurance of data solutions and make recommendations to ensure compliance
- Data innovation. Awareness of new tools and uses of data
- Data modelling. Produce, maintain, and update relevant data models. Reverse-engineer data models from a live system
- Data standards. Analyse where standards have been adhered to or breached and provide impact analysis of breaches
- Metadata management. Work with metadata repositories to complete complex tasks such as data and systems integration impact analysis
- Problem resolution. Initiate actions, monitor services and identify trends
- Strategic thinking. Understand the strategic context of your work and contribute to strategic planning
- Turning business problems into data design. Deal with business problems and align solutions to enterprise standards and principles
- Preferably educated to degree level or with sufficient demonstrable workplace experience to satisfy the requirements of the role
- Data modelling, data analytics and database design experience
- Knowledge of emerging data technologies, such as predictive analytics, machine learning, AI and data visualisation is desirable
