At Daikin Applied, the DevelopmentEngineer will have the opportunity to design and apply gas furnace and electric heat features across Daikin Rooftop Product Offerings and in doing so, you will interact with lab personnel on prototype concepts. You will have the opportunity to enhance commercial HVAC products and strengthen the Daikin brand.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

• Design Engineering responsibility for Product Development and Life-Cycle maintenance of Gas Furnaces and Electric Heaters. Products include purchased and self-manufactured.
• Scope:
  • Gas Furnace and Electric Heat concepts and development
  • Component specification
  • Assess system function, performance, and reliability through simulation, testing, and analytical methods.
• Areas of focus include: Unit capacity and sizing, combustion air management, safety features, control systems, efficiency optimization, fans and airflow.
• Provide technical leadership and work cross-functionally with designers, lab personnel, project managers, manufacturing, suppliers, etc.
• Effectively apply engineering product development processes and techniques. These include DFMEA, Test Plan, Design Review, Risk Assessment, etc.
• Follow defined steps of New Product and New Technology Introduction processes.
• Ensure Project and Product meet schedule, cost, functionality, and quality objectives.

Education/Experience:

• Bachelor's Degree in Engineering (Mechanical or Chemical preferred)
• Minimum of 5-7 years of related experience (HVAC, Industrial Process, or similar)
• CGE (Certified Gas Engineer) a plus
• Combustion development experience preferred (furnaces, boilers, or related)
• CFD, FEA, and MATLAB skills preferred
• Strong organizational, interpersonal and communications skills
