The Department of Medicine has 11 divisions, more than 300 employees and more than $68 million in expenditures annually. The mission of the Department of Medicine is to deliver accessible, patient-centered healthcare of the highest caliber while training compassionate, visionary and innovative clinicians and researchers. The Department has a diverse clinical operation with 11 subspecialties and clinic sites in Orange, Yorba Linda, Laguna Hills and Tustin. The clinical program will continue to grow in the coming years through the addition of the Center for Ambulatory Care and the Irvine Hospital.
Under the general direction of the Chief Administrative Officer in the Department of Medicine the Director of Business Intelligence is responsible for development and implementation of reporting tools to provide analytical support for the daily operations for the clinical operations unit in the Department of Medicine. The duties include the management of clinical integration, reporting and analytics. The Director of Business Intelligence plays a key role in the Department Senior Management team, which includes the Department Chair, CAO, CFO and Division Administrators and directly with CAO and CFO to develop and implement strategies to ensure efficient and effective clinical operations across a large department. The incumbent develops and recommends changes to departmental policies, procedures and guidelines for clinical operations and analytical support for strategic planning for the clinical operations in Orange and the new Hospital in Irvine as well as the Center for Ambulatory Care. Works with business and / or clinical units to understand and prioritize data and information requirements. Creates specifications for reports and analysis based on business needs and required / available data elements. Optimizes the performance of enterprise business intelligence tools by defining data to filter and index that add value to the user. Develops business cases to support department-wide business intelligence solutions. Supervises professionals providing direction and guidance on business intelligence solutions. Coordinates department workflow, sets priorities, and assesses processes. Provides input on personnel matters and recommends improvements to department practices.

$95,300.00 - $185,500.00 (Annual Salary)
Required:
Bachelor's degree in related area and / or equivalent experience / training.
Demonstrated ability to supervise professional staff, assign work and manage competing priorities. Strong knowledge of business intelligence principles, concepts and methodologies. Knowledge of human resources practices and policies. Ability to monitor, address and document personnel and performance issues. Ability to analyze information, think conceptually and formulate effective solutions. Strong written and verbal communications skills. Ability to convey technical information in a clear, concise manner. Advanced interpersonal skills to collaborate with clinical and technical professionals and business leaders. Demonstrated ability to work effectively with senior management on operational and policy issues. Ability to deliver presentations to large and / or diverse audiences. Ability to train staff. Proficient in all MS Office applications, BI / database applications and reporting tools.
