Job Responsibilities:
Oversees, guides and audits the clinical practice, operations and compliance related to the cleaning, disinfection and sterilization of instrumentation for the Johns Hopkins Health System (6 hospitals, 6 ambulatory surgery centers, including more than 15 departmental sites, 100 operating rooms, related procedural areas and other JHHS clinical entities). Establishes departmental quality goals and objectives, and develops and implements standardized departmental policies and procedures.

Provides effective and robust leadership needed to achieve unit, department and institutional objectives in a complex and changing environment. Actively collaborates with hospital infection control and regulatory departments as well as multidisciplinary teams to improve institution's cleaning, disinfection, and sterilization processes. Fosters employee excellence. Promotes innovation in clinical, service, and team performance.

Demonstrates extensive and complete knowledge of hospital environments as well as outside regulatory agency requirements such as infection control guidelines, AORN standards, JCAHO, AAMI and IAHCSMM (International Association of Hospital Central Service and Materials Management) and effectively applies this knowledge to manage systems and processes to ensure the highest level of patient care and personnel development.

Education:
Bachelor's degree in a clinical discipline, business administration, or operational science required. An advanced degree in nursing or business/management is preferred

Required Licensure Certification, etc.

Must have a current Certification from the International or American Association of Healthcare Central Service Material Management Organization within one year of hire. Certified Instrumentation Specialist, IAHCSMM and/or Approved Certified Educator (ACE), IAHCSMM preferred.

Work Experience:
A minimum of 10 years of clinical or healthcare related experience is required. A minimum of 5 years' management experience is required.
