Position Description:
The Director of Finance (Lead Fiscal Officer) will report to both the Dean of School of Nursing, as well as the HSC Vice President for Finance. This position will serve as the primary fiscal support resource for all departments and nursing programs located in Louisville and Owensboro, as well as SON Administration. Key focus areas include strategic planning, decision support, financial planning, data analysis, and accounting. Director will develop the organization's budget, oversee its implementation, review budget proposals, and prepare financial documents and reports.

Position Description:

- Lead the business office team in financial planning and budget preparation processes. Build budgets and forecast of the organization's financial performance to assist in the development and execution of business strategies.
- Provide overall financial and budgetary leadership recommending the allocation of financial resources, optimizing strategic investments and fostering the financial health of the school.
- Forecast financials based on current and expected billings and expense trends. Implement budget changes via entries into the budget system using budget transfers, budget adjustments, journal vouchers and IUTs.
- Provide administrative, operational and financial guidance to the SON leadership in collaboration with the SON Dean
- Oversee and approve all position authorization requests and job data changes, utilizing EFMI for position funding, budgeting, and other day-to-day financial activities in the unit, etc.
- Oversee the reconciliation of unit programs, sponsored programs, scholarship endowments, and other budgets.
- Develop financial projections and analyses that link to the organization's strategic objectives and advises the Dean on strategic use of financial resources.
- Coordinate budget analysis projects such as clinical and instructional fee projections for both graduate and undergraduate programs; revenue projections on clinical fee services, faculty workload analyses, determine revenue projections on the Owensboro Extension Site and programs, and create benchmark analyses of faculty salaries.
- Perform analyses to explain expense variances from the budget. May prepare unit reports that involves research, data gathering, compilation, and analysis which will help drive strategic and operational decision-making.
- Perform ad-hoc analysis for executives as required.
- Supervise student assistant workers assigned to the business office (as applicable). Direct the UBM and administrative staff in other financial matters.
- Build and manage financial databases by organizing and analyzing a wide range of data sources. Work closely with the Program Directors, managers, supervisors, faculty, and staff to assist in program budgets development and implementation.
- Recommend and implement improvements on financial processes that will result in cost-savings to the school.
- Other duties as assigned such as representing the Dean at meetings to furnish or obtain information related to the fiscal operations of the school, as well as consistent participation in university meetings on financial and administrative matters.
- Lead and oversee the recruitment, onboarding, and training for financial management staff, as well as administrative/clerical support staff and/or student workers.

- Other duties as assigned.
