Job Summary: Seeking a responsible, safe and experienced Driver to join our Shipping team operating out of the Library Support Center, located in the West End. Our Drivers utilize CLP vans to pick up and deliver materials to and from Allegheny County libraries along specific routes throughout the county. Drivers are also responsible for sorting and stacking materials to prepare for deliveries and related activities within the Shipping department.

Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

• Delivering books and other library materials to locations along regularly scheduled routes;
• Performing special deliveries as needed;
• Stacking and loading/unloading bins in vans for deliveries, and making exchanges at each stop;
• Interacting professionally and efficiently with library staff at each location to ensure effective service;
• Sorting various light and heavy materials at the Library Support Center via different methods;
• Acting appropriately as a representative of CLP;
• Performing other related duties as assigned.

High School Diploma or GED

Requirements & Qualifications:

• High School Diploma or GED required;
• Ability to safely operate a motor vehicle (specifically a CLP van), maintain a clean driving record, and have knowledge and ability to abide by all traffic laws;
• Ability to maintain punctuality for consistent route deliveries, including reliability for a daily regimented schedule;
• Strong knowledge of city and county roadways;
• Ability to interact professionally and efficiently and maintain a high level of customer service;
• Ability to perform regular strenuous effort including the handling of heavy bins, boxes, tools, equipment, and/or materials of 30 to 60 pounds, and stacks of said materials weighing in excess of 150 pounds safely moved using a hand truck or flatbed hand truck. Must have physical ability to effectively, efficiently and repeatedly perform all related duties;
• Ability to understand and follow CLP's policies and procedures along with union contract provisions;
• Ability to follow safe driving, lifting and material handling techniques;
• Requires current, valid Pennsylvania driver's license that has been maintained for at least six (6) years; with a clean driving record for at least the past three (3) years;
• Minimum of one (1) year of related van driving experience, with similar route/delivery driving experience strongly preferred;

• PA Child Abuse History Clearance
• Pre-Employment Physical, Drug/Alcohol Testing
• MVR Check

Location: CLP - Library Support Center (West End)

Work Hours: 40 hours per week; Monday - Friday, 8 am - 4:30 pm

Salary: $17.05 per hour

Unit: This is a union-represented position.
