Job Description

SUMMARY

An employee in this classification, under the supervision of the Director of the Children’s Department is responsible for the supervision of early intervention services and supports.

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES

Supervises and orients individuals assigned to the department.

DUTIES

75%

• Assists in the development, implementation, and monitoring of services within the Early Intervention Department.
• Provides leadership for and participation in center based and home-based Special Instruction and parent education, parent communications and monitoring of early intervention health and safety.
• Facilitates, trains, and monitors evaluation and assessment teams.
• Oversees the department’s community presence with Early Intervention and assists with any marketing, advertising and public events.
• Provides oversight, monitoring and quality evaluations of services and supports within the Department, including but not limited to: o Transdisciplinary Teaming: Coaching of staff, staff coaching families, peers coaching peers and Teaming with Service Coordinators for EI services o Staff training and development o Providing and updating materials needed for the Early Intervention Developmental Specialist (EIDS) and related positions o Committee work with other departments within the agency
• Monitors activities to ensure compliance with regulatory agencies, applicable laws, rules, regulations, policies, procedures, and collective bargaining agreements.

• Promotes and participates in individual/family, community and staff educational awareness efforts.
• Prepares a variety of reports, records, correspondence, and other communication regarding activities of the

Department.

• Attends meetings, conferences and seminars.
• Conducts and/or coordinates special projects and assignments.
• Serves as primary representative of the Board in working with other community agencies and organizations to develop resources and supports to meet individual needs.
• Develops and maintains relationships with community partners such as Local Educational Agencies, hospitals,

Community Resource Centers, Lucas County Children’s Services.

• Effectively coordinates and shares community resources.
• Responsible for Internal Quality Assurances reviews, reporting and correction of errors.

• Ability to promote an inclusive environment for all board staff, individuals served, families, and providers.
• Knowledge and ability to operate personal computer, applications software, and basic office equipment.
• Knowledge of community resources, programs, services and supports for persons with or at risk for developmental disabilities.
• Knowledge of local, state and federal laws, rules and regulations involving services.
• Organizational, counseling, public relations, communication and supervisory skills.
• Ability to use sound judgement in dealing with a variety of situations.
• Ability to establish and maintain harmonious relationships.
• Ability to develop and implement creative solutions that appropriately addresses the needs and choices of persons with or at risk for developmental disabilities.
• Adherence to the principles of good management practices as outlined in the "Expectations for Effective Leadership and Management Practices."

QUALIFICATIONS, EDUCATION, AND EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS

• Master's degree in education, health, social or behavioral science, social services, human services, or other related field from an accredited college or university; and
• Four (4) years of full-time (or equivalent part-time), supervised, paid experience working with children birth through age five (5) with disabilities, developmental delays, or diagnosed physical or mental conditions that have a high probability of resulting in a developmental delay and their families.
• One (1) year of supervisory experience.

Or

• Holds a master's degree in any field from an accredited college or university; and
• Four (4) years of full-time (or equivalent part-time), supervised, paid experience working with children birth through age five (5) with disabilities, developmental delays, or diagnosed physical or mental conditions that have a high probability of resulting in a developmental delay and their families.
• Holds a valid Early Intervention Developmental Specialist Certification from the Ohio Department of

Developmental Disabilities.

• One (1) year of supervisory experience.

CERTIFICATION, REGISTRATION AND LICENSURE

• Certification as required by the Ohio Department of Developmental Disabilities. Must complete all Early

Intervention Developmental Specialist (EIDS) Certification requirements within two (2) weeks of the start date in the position.

• Valid Driver’s license.

TRAINING

• Training as required by the Board and DODD.
• Adult and Pediatric First Aid/CPR/AED

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $56,575.00 - $89,425.00 per year
