Rancho Santa Fe, CA
$19.00 to $19.50 an hour
Full Time (Weekdays and weekends, occasional nights and holidays as required. Schedule is 8:30am-4:30pm Sunday - Thursday)

SUMMARY OF RESPONSIBILITES:
As an Education Animal Care Coordinator you are responsible for the daily feeding, cleaning, attention, and exercise requirements of all animals in the education department following all USDA licensing guidelines. These animals include, but are not limited to, rabbits, guinea pigs, chinchillas, lizards, snakes, frogs, miniature horses, alpacas, sheep, goats, chickens, ducks, parrots, and invertebrates. You will monitor each animal's daily care for health concerns, administer medication when needed and communicate all emotional and physical conditions/needs.
The Education Animal Care Coordinator will also direct, assist, and utilize volunteer staff to further the department's mission while ensuring all protocols are followed and will oversee the opening and closing procedures of the department. A candidate can expect to develop guidelines for handling, and maintaining animal temperament and assist management in implementing animal-care procedures to the Education staff. At times, the Animal Care Coordinator will also assist with presentations for various educational programs.
Requirements include:
- High school diploma or equivalent is required. Some college or a Bachelor's degree in related animal field preferred.
- Previous experience overseeing, working with and caring for all animal species listed above (exercising, grooming and training) Experience with parrots and horses is preferred.
- Ability to work around animal dander, hair, shavings, hay, straw, dust, and loud vocalizations on a daily basis.
- Experience public speaking or addressing groups, preferably children.
- Solutions/results oriented and passionate about meeting individual and team goals.
- Demonstrated experience working effectively with others through sharing and listening to others in a constructive and courteous manner.
- Occasional driving duties may be required in this role. Applicants must possess a valid Driver's License and provide a recent DMV Driving Record report and proof of insurance upon hire
- Live Scan completion and clean record is required
