Electric Power Infrastructure Leader - San Antonio, TX
Job description
Halff has an opening for a Director of Electric Power Infrastructure (EPI). This is a strategic leadership position to expand our electric power infrastructure team within our energy practice. The ideal candidate will bring experience working with electric power delivery entities (investor-owned utilities, municipally owned utilities and/or electric cooperatives, privately-owned electric power systems) or engineering consultants in EPI. Also, candidates should have experience managing and growing design teams, coordinating with clients and leading delivery of capital asset projects. While electric power distribution is a primary focus, experience with substation or transmission engineering is a plus. This is an exciting opportunity with our growing Electric Power Infrastructure team.
Responsibilities:
- Provide leadership and guidance in areas of business development, client relationships, technical expertise, planning, design and related services to the electric power infrastructure clients.
- Research markets, develop and maintain client relationships, and identify business opportunities.
- Create and execute strategic plans and guide the growth of electric power infrastructure-related design services.
- Lead successful strategic pursuits to capture specific opportunities, including acting as Project Manager on significant projects.
- Manage and lead a production team, coordinate with clients and lead delivery of multiple electric power infrastructure design projects for private and public clients.
- Work closely with the operations team and Energy Practice leadership to develop, create, and execute growth strategies for the team.
- Work closely with the other practice leads, other energy leadership team members and the Energy Practice leader in business development activities.
- Work closely with operations staff to identify, hire, develop and grow key staff and resources, and ensure successful project delivery.
- Work closely with other practices to leverage firm-wide resources.
Requirements:
- Bachelor's Degree in Electrical or Mechanical Engineering, or Electrical or Mechanical Engineering Technology Degree with a PE.
- PE License in Electrical or Mechanical Engineering or ability to obtain within one year (NCEES record, a plus)
- Must have a minimum ten years of combined experience as an engineer and project manager at an investor-owned utility, municipally owned utility, electric cooperative, and/or privately-owned electric power system; or within an A/E or design/construction firm, or within a dedicated design group of an electric utility, petrochem, or other related industry firm that designs electric power infrastructure.
- Must be a self-starter who has the willingness and ability to strengthen and develop relationships with new and existing clients through both face-to-face and remote means.
- High-level of interpersonal relationship, communications, facilitation, team building, collaboration skills.
- Ability to lead multiple projects and supervise technical staff.
- Experience with some, or all, of the following:
- National Electric Safety Code (NESC)
- National Electric Code (NEC)
- Electric Power Infrastructure standards, from a utility or the Rural Utility Services (RUS)
