QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Bachelor's degree in business, management, human relations, or a related field
  • 5+ years of experience in outside sales or job development with a placement track record
  • Demonstrated experience establishing relationships with employers in the New York City area
  • Mastery of all key activities clients must complete to successfully gain and retain employment
  • Computer literate with proficiency in Microsoft Office products
  • Ability to receive entrance clearance to Rikers Island
  • Covid-19 vaccination

Experience working with public assistance recipients, the homeless, formerly incarcerated, or those affected by the challenges associated with poverty would be a plus. Bilingual in English and Spanish is preferred, but multiple factors will be taken into consideration. YOUR LIFE AS AN EMPLOYMENT COORDINATOR

This full-time nonprofit business management position using your sales skills in human services works during the day.

As an Employment Coordinator with our nonprofit, you identify, develop, and maintain relationships with employers to create job opportunities for our clients. You cold call employers to identify job leads and businesses that are currently hiring. By performing field visits, you ensure businesses are well-versed in the methodologies of our program and open to hiring justice-involved participants. You also regularly review local postings and websites to maintain awareness of job fairs and employer open houses to refer qualified participants.

Additionally, you strive to meet the skills of job seekers to identify barriers to employment and understand how to best present them to potential employers. You design recruitment strategies, on-site employer visits, job fairs, "meet the manager" days, and cyber info sessions for internet job search companies as well as produce daily and weekly reports for employment outcomes. Additionally, you enter case notes for each client into our system and track retention.
