Vineyard’s small team is growing rapidly! The Public Works Department is seeking a Staff Engineer (Level I-III) to conduct engineering reviews of commercial and development project plans and construction drawings for traffic, parking, drainage, utility, roadway, and right-of-way issues. The engineer will also oversee city project designs and provide management for its capital projects. The engineer will play a key role by providing subject matter expertise supporting infrastructure operations, city officials, other government and non-governmental agencies.

Principal Duties
- Performs a variety of complex duties as needed to assist in compliance with established engineering construction standards including the inspection and documentation for capital infrastructure projects, excavation permits and utility mapping.
- Oversee construction of city capital projects; supervise the project scheduling, installation, and acceptance of public infrastructure; measure quantities for pay requests and plan compliance.
- Utilize ArcGIS and CAD to develop designs, provide information, and ensure the integrity of the city infrastructure systems.
- Represent the city with federal, state, county, and local jurisdictions.
- Attend development review meetings, planning and zoning committee meetings, and other meetings as requested.
- Other duties as assigned.
Ideal Candidate
- Bachelor’s degree in civil engineering or related field.
- Motivated and willing to work alone and with other staff.
- Knowledge of governmental processes affecting various engineering programs and project management.
- Knowledge of civil engineering methods, principles and practices; construction methods and materials common to public works projects.
- State of Utah Engineering-in-Training certification or Professional Engineer license preferred.
