What You'll Be Doing
The Wake County Environmental Services Division of Water Quality is currently seeking qualified applicants for an Environmental Health Specialist [EK1] to support the county’s dynamic, leading-edge private well program. This position will perform site evaluations, create and review well permits, inspect well construction, well repairs and well abandonments, and collect water quality samples and interpret results from private drinking water wells. This position will also provide consultative services to residents including well inspections, water quality sampling, and advice on water quality issues, and will conduct background research and field investigations related to groundwater complaints. The Basics (Required Education and Experience)
Bachelor's degree with a minimum of 30 semester hours in physical or biological science.
One year of experience in environmental health
NC Registered Environmental Health Specialist (REHS)
NC relevant authorizations
Valid Driver's License and "safe" driving record
Equivalent education and experience are accepted
Beyond the Basics (Preferred Education and Experience)
3 years’ experience working as an Environmental Health Specialist
Registered Environmental Health Specialist (REHS)
Experience with well construction inspections and mitigation of well problems
Additional relevant authorizations

Hiring Range: $22.90-$30.91
