Job description
Our ER Techs works under close supervision of a registered nurse and provide care to patient who are admitted to the Emergency Room. General duties include taking vitals, collecting various patient specimens, and other duties as assigned. This position has exposure to body fluids, radiation and communicable disease. The majority of work time is spent standing and/or walking of short distances ( up to 60% of work time), with frequent pushing, pulling, and lifting of up to 100 lbs. (up to 20% of work time), and with frequent carrying of up to 50 lbs (up to 20% of work time). A culturally and linguistically diverse patient population is served including infants, pediatrics, adolescents, adults and geriatrics, with the majority being adults and geriatrics.
LICENSES/CERTIFICATIONS REQUIRED Current CPR
SPECIFIC EDUCATIONAL AND SKILL COMPETENCIES REQUIRED Familiarity with patient care procedures is required as usually demonstrated by completion of a nursing assistant training program. Excellent phlebotomy skills required. Effective communication skills and the ability to follow written and verbal instructions as usually demonstrated by the successful completion of high school studies or G.E.D. is required.
