Job Summary:
We are looking for a culinary enthusiast who is a self-starter and strategic business leader to lead and elevate the culinary program at a Dana Point local restaurant. The ideal Executive Chef will have a strong passion for excellence and deliver high-quality food, create new recipes, and offer attentive/forward-facing service to guests while directing their kitchen staff. Ruiz Consulting LLC works with local Orange County owner/operators to help optimize their business and place high caliber talent within their businesses.
Day To Day:
- Lead, train, develop, and inspire the culinary team
- Elevate the culinary experience by focusing on food quality, expanding variety, improving consistency throughout the menu, and upholding presentation standards
- Create innovative new menu items based on current food trends
- Develop large format banquet menus that attract a wide variety of clients with varying price points
- Manage financial cost controls and culinary operations
- Curate special events such as wine dinners that are designed to impress and maintain positive guest experiences
About You:
- Minimum of 3+ year's experience at Executive Chef or Sous Chef level in a Resort / Hotel / Restaurant
- Degree in Culinary Arts or equivalent experience
- Strong knowledge of European cuisine; emphasis traditional Italian
- Food & Safety certifications
- Excel in a high-energy, engaging, team-based environment with effective leadership, communication, and training skills
- Experience in building strong kitchen teams and creating a positive kitchen culture
- Adaptable to change – can solve problems through an open-minded and all-inclusive approach
- Knowledge of special diets (preferred)
- Can understand POS (Toast preferred), Microsoft Office products, and social media strategies
- Experience in creating and delivering quality a la carte and banquet/event menus and dishes

Pay: $65,000.00 - $75,000.00 per year
