- Conduct a strength-based needs assessment on which to build an individualized plan consisting of
- an academic plan to ensure the expelled student does not fall behind on skills or credits
- an action plan that includes purposeful post-secondary readiness activities, research, purposeful community service in an area of strength and interest
- A restorative plan of action that will allow the expelled student to apply to the school for abeyance
- Developing a collaborative network of connections to community agencies that can help provide behavior and academic supports.
- Connecting expelled students to district level resources and support including substance support, mental health and behavior support, transition and re-entry planning, etc.
- Responding to teacher, school, parent, and community needs including informal requests regarding policies, procedures, and programming for expelled students.
- Connecting with community and business resources to assist the expelled youth with future planning and potential job shadow opportunities.
- Conducting home visits, attending community based or internet-based meetings, and meeting with school staff to create a process inclusive of family and other student support systems
- Creating a regular and two-way dialogue with parents and family; creating a collaborative and cooperative support network
- Assisting students with the exploration of traditional and alternative educational pathways in order to meet their individual goals
- Coordinating data collection and analysis to monitor student progress and student academic success during and after receiving expulsion and re engagement services.
- Creating and implementing a supportive transition plan when a student returns to the general school setting.
- Bachelor’s degree in education, counseling, psychology, or other related field of study*
- Minimum of three years’ experience in Classroom Teacher or Counselor role;
- Preference for demonstrated experience developing re-engagement learning facilitation and/or experience in re-engagement, intervention or other behavioral/performance-based systems;
- Attend and successfully complete all staff development training as required by state law or as directed by their Supervisor.
- (Acceptable education and experience equivalent will be at the sole discretion of the District)
- Valid Colorado Teacher's or Counselor's license
- Teachers are initially placed according to experience. Teachers new to the District may be granted up to 15 years of experience, provided the experience occurred within the last 20 years in accordance with the MVEA Agreement.

Expulsion Interventionist
Position will be located at Colorado Mesa University Campus
Job Summary:
Operating under the general direction of the Director of SEL and Behavior Support, this position functions as a District representative working to advocate for and support Intervention, Re-Engagement, and Restorative Practices activities and programming for expelled students. Interventionist conducts home visits and works directly with students, schools, family, and community to build a collaborative and cooperative support network for students. Interventionist works with expelled youth to create and implement a personalized learning plan which, when completed, will allow an expelled student to apply for abeyance back into a school setting. Developing a collaborative network of connections to community agencies that can help provide behavior and academic support requires on-going research and skill building to bring innovative solutions and effective methods to provide student success. Interventionist will support academic, SEL, behavioral and workforce readiness skills and activities to better prepare students to return to school after expulsion.
The Expulsion Interventionist operates from a solution-oriented stance to ensure the success of expelled students.
This role works to support alignment of systems with teachers and students as they apply Social Emotional Learning, Re-engagement, and Restorative Practices with those currently under expulsion. Employee brings a high level of understanding to effective behavioral and social programming in conjunction with intervention and restorative practices working collaboratively with district support and intervention staff and leaders. Responsibilities within this area include designing, developing, implementing, monitoring the effectiveness of and ensuring continuous improvements of the District’s comprehensive Intervention, Re-Engagement, and Restorative Practices Programing; components include but are not limited to:

Teacher Base Pay Salary Schedule Range:
$43,665 - $88,001 based on one (1) FTE at one hundred eighty eight (188) days.
